Interesting tidbit about the strobes. I still don't think that they're supposed to be on prior to entering the active though. If I ever get around to upgrading the overhead, I think I'll untie all switches from any default funtionality so that things like auto strobes can be implemented more easily....

I finally had time for a test flight and it went fairly well. The new FCU behaved, as did the other things like the TCAS. Out of the box, they are 4096 pixel bitmaps in DXT1 format, weighing in at 10 MB each (80 MB in total for the entire VC). I could provide 2048 px versions in DXT1 format which would only be 2 MB large (16 MB in total). Should lower the chance of OOMs.
