A321 virtual cockpit preview
A321 virtual cockpit preview
In the works for a long time, the A321 Virtual cockpit.
Feaetures being worked on/considered are:
-Complete cockpit, wingview and first class cabin with all FS9 standard animations
- All animations visible in the exterior model will be visible from the interior
-3D analog instruments where possible
-Movable armrests and trays in the cockpit, as well as pax tray tables
-Windshield wipers
-Openable cockpit windows (modeled, but being considered)
-Window rain effects
-Emissive cockpit and cabin lighting -flood lights will be controlled by toggling the landing lights
-Baked shading in many of the textures
-Inflight entertainment system (with startup screen) showing GPS info regarding the position, altitude and ETA
-Usable luggage stows and possibly window shades (still thinking it's not of much use)
-Mappable FMC in virtual cockpit in case you want to use one of the available ones
There are also a few crazy ideas circling around my mind, but can't be disclosed here. Once the above basic features work and performance's OK, I'll get on to them.
Features are not considered final, although most are implemented and working in the A380VC already.
Here's a couple of untextured shots to whet your apetite.

Lovely modeling you guys got going on! Hoping we will see the A380 VC Released first?

shiiiiiit! amazing guys, you really went the extra mile!
Re: A321 virtual cockpit preview
Wow ... this is really amazing! You do a great job and your Addons make lots of fun to fly! Well, if you build a A321 virtual cockpit, so is there a possibility for the upcoming A320 2.1 and perhaps for a reworked A319 or even A318? ^^ And a more serious question is, will you make a complete A32x interior or can we choose like the A380 between a cabin model and a future vc model?
Best regards,
Elmar

Oh..my.. god...
Fantastic!
Fantastic!
Re: A321 virtual cockpit preview
nice, but why do you start so many projects at the same time ??
I mean the A380 VC isn't "progressing very well" - slightly said - and I see it's release in far far future LOL

Re: A321 virtual cockpit preview
Keep on topic. The projects are progressing independently and the 380VC is in its final stages. The thing is that time is VERY limited for all the involved parties, thus the progress is slow.Lufthansa 007 wrote:nice, but why do you start so many projects at the same time ??

Re: A321 virtual cockpit preview
Looking very good there Alexis. Lovely attention to detail in the cockpit there. Hmm, hmm, I am very impressed. Also the cabin is looking nice. Love the chairs, a real first class look with the screens. Looks like they're top-quality leather finished . Keep it up .
Re: A321 virtual cockpit preview
excellent, i cant wait
Re: A321 virtual cockpit preview
Yes, and i think, PA learnt much with the A380 VC, so this one should be ready faster.
Sorry if my English is bad.

Re: A321 virtual cockpit preview
IDK if I'll work on an A320 or 31x interior to that extent. What's sure though is that they share the cockpit, so I'd have no problem using it on the 320/19/18.Elmar wrote:Wow ... this is really amazing! Regarding the full cabin, I've made a full interior model (all the way back to the tail) and exported it to FS. The problem is that FS9 doesn't handle 250k polygons that well  , which led to framerates in the low to mid teens. The current plan is to reach 90-100k with the VC, first class and WV at once, so that would be up to a very playable framerate. FSX would handle it much better, though it has inherent FPS problems.
Regarding the release, it will be an all-in-one package, including the wingviews.
Re: A321 virtual cockpit preview
Amazing you must be proud of this! Can't wait for this. I hope the textures is high quality so we get a realistic feeling! And please please make it available for FS2004???! I hate when things are only able for FSX Btw awesome work looking forward to get this
Best regards thomas lp!!

Re: A321 virtual cockpit preview
Thank you Alexis for anwsering my questions. I have expected that a full interior model will have a lot polygons, so can you imagine to get a additional single VC to the A321?

Re: A321 virtual cockpit preview
Just one more Project Airbus thing to be excited about! Will this VC be compatible with the Pairbus A318/19/20?
Re: A321 virtual cockpit preview
Btw, will it have LCD screens?

Re: A321 virtual cockpit preview
It should be a similar VC for the A31x and A32x aircraft

I love you guys!
Re: A321 virtual cockpit preview
It's not hard to reduce the current VC model to cockpit only. However I am a guy who likes to have stuff to explore, so I'll make all of the interior up to the 1st class seats.Elmar wrote:Thank you Alexis for anwsering my questions. For the time being, only the CRT model is modeled. I don't know whether I'll make the LCD version too.Camiz757 wrote:Btw, will it have LCD screens?
It's identical, except for the 318 and its steep approach button. But I think the 318 only has an LCD cockpit, I need to check it out.sknepper wrote:It should be a similar VC for the A31x and A32x aircraft
Re: A321 virtual cockpit preview
I am not into this kind of stuff, so I can't say if it's something that can be done, but dont'you think that it might be more practical if there were two interior models, one for the cockpit and one for the cabin? Then everybody could choose to load or not to load one or the other, or both of the models, just to save some memory.Alexis wrote:It's not hard to reduce the current VC model to cockpit only. Re: A321 virtual cockpit preview
That means three separate mdls. I think 90% of current systems can easily run a model that is 30% above the FS9 polygon limit. And I say 90% because of FS9's rendering limitations. Games like Unreal Tournament 3 and Crysis 2 can render millions of polygons at once.
Re: A321 virtual cockpit preview
Totally epic. I'll be praying for the 2004 version. Looking great none the less!
Re: A321 virtual cockpit preview
Here's an ingame preview. FPS is a solid 60 (locked there).
Still a lot of bugs to iron out though.

i don't see it either.

OMG!!! Can't wait!
Will the wing and the engine be visible from the virtual cabin, just like the A380?

Very ver nice modeling, can't wait to see some textures for it. But from reading above im confused... will we be expecting a seperate model for fsx ?

I haven't said so, but it is a possibility.Brett-Hill wrote:Very ver nice modeling, can't wait to see some textures for it. But from reading above im confused... will we be expecting a seperate model for fsx ?

I understand that its the CRT screens. what has more polys LCD or CRT.
I know that there would be minimal difference if any. Im just a guy taking interest in VC Modelling.

Re: A321 virtual cockpit preview
CRT has more, because you have to do the rounded corners.AirNewZealand_A320 wrote:I understand that its the CRT screens. what has more polys LCD or CRT.

Re: A321 virtual cockpit preview
Ah thought so. So for the LCD would you just Boolean a square into the fwd section, or model the square from the start?

No, I try to avoid boolean operations as much as possible.AirNewZealand_A320 wrote:Ah thought so. So for the LCD would you just Boolean a square into the fwd section, or model the square from the start?

-You start with a box, of which you delete 6 out of 8 vertices, leaving you with 2.
-Then you start copying the verts to the edges of the main panel and monitors.
-Afterwards you start creating the polygons by hand. Extrude the screen polys inwards to get the indentation and edit as needed.

OMFG That beats many payware A321 virtual cockpits!! Damn PA, u guys are awesome.
Re: A321 virtual cockpit preview
Lookin very nice, Alexis!
Just curious, are there any (visual) differences between the A321 cockpit and the ones on the 319 and 320? If not, perhaps this VC could be included in the updated PA's A319 and 329 (318?) models (Vers. 2.1)?
Great work anyway... thumbs up!

Re: A321 virtual cockpit preview
There's almost no difference between them, except for the 318 and the aircraft data displayed. Once it's done, it would be easy to implement. We'll see though.Aileron wrote:Lookin very nice, Alexis!
