I did a thesis on winglet performance and the total savings are actually quite negligible in real life but nethertheless there are clear savings and the airlines are using them just to reduce their block fuel requirement. As a direct consequence on a particular flight, winglets don't really reduce fuel burn, they reduce the fuel required.

Another example of such a saving you can do on any flight is landing with flaps at config 3 which reduces aerodynamic drag compared with config full. This allows the aircraft to maintain an approach speed using less thrust. This does however increase stall/approach speed but it isn't a problem when used in the correct scenario. I think I read this method saves around 15-20kg of fuel per flight compared to a regular config full landing which over the space of a year employed as a SOP in a large fleet will amount to a lot of money!

The net savings you may have read about you will not be able to see in FSX reliably and accurately not just without the FDE but also without a highly accurate simulation of the Airbus FADEC, systems etc. Had it been modeled and you flew an A320 in FSX without winglet and then an A320 with winglet fully fueled you will probably see an extra endurance of around 100nm but that can and would vary greatly in every scenario. I think PA have it right in not modeling this because it is extremely difficult to get right and even then even more so to simulate accurately.

Just curious, are the flaps going to be all gray instead of the silver stripe? Thanks!

I can't speak for Stian, but I don't plan on changing the wing/flap textures.

Hey ln-oss, is it possible for u to update the engine cowling texture to add some of the rivits? I've tried to, but when I do that its hard to match the inner texture of the engine. You clearly see a line of the different colors.

I am not a Airbus man (BOEING ALL THE WAY!), but I have to say that Project Airbus has done a bang up job, and adding the Sharklets to the A320 series is even better. They look outstanding and I can't wait to take one for a spin. Good work guys. 8-)

By the way, I am also waiting on the A330/A340 series also. (Okay they grew on me since Delta merge with Northwest.)

There is a mod on Avsim, but it has Vueling´s register and winglets.

yeah, I'm notice the different between sharklet & non-sharklet.....the sharklet doesn't have the silver stripe....it's only the texture...not a big problem....

Hi

I'm just wondering at what stage are the sharklet models at? Are they finished or are the final touches still been added?

I must say all the liveries so far look excellent!

Quick question. Will all the sharklet models have the "windmilling" effect on the engines when parked? Also the Sharklet models look great. I cant wait to fly them home from Blagnac France.

Why will they not have the windmilling effect? The current 321 version has it..

+1

I think the PA A32X is by far the best Airbus Model for FS9 and FSX

Stunning repaints from all of you. :) The chevrons really fit the CFM engines, well modeled!

Just one small request to the model(s). (I promise this will be the last one). It's a very small item but a thing I noticed on the newer built A319s and A320s.

They don't longer have the static discharger antenna on the Engine Flap Track. (The Flap Track which is connected with the Engine pylon under the each wing).

Two images to show you or to make sure of.
http://blogs.crikey.com.au/planetalking ... u-A320.jpg
http://www.airlinereporter.com/wp-conte ... loseup.png

And the older one with discharger.
http://www.freewebs.com/qldplanespottin ... G_8111.JPG

I wish you can consider to "delete" the discharger. But you don't have to if you think it's unnecessary. It's just because PA are awesome when it comes to visuals and details.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to these new birds in my hangar. PS: Don't rush with the release. :D

Great work, everyday still waiting :)
One question?
Have Project Airbus team made like this picture?
whether it modeled or added texture for this?
small piece but added more realistic :)

Guys, I can appreciate the additional requests, but new features aren't up for addition. It's supposed to be a small update to add the Sharklets and animate the aileron.. The Chevron as a bonus, but there aren't plans to modify anything else.
