Airbus Sharklet Preview Thread

Hi Folks,

I want to state a few things from the get-go. Project Airbus is a group of people who spend their free time working to release stuff to you FOR FREE. Please understand that it isn't a simple process to make changes to the models, or work on textures. We only ask that you bear this in mind and that you leave your expectations at the door. This isn't a product, we're not selling anything.

Each of the team members either work, study or both. You need to understand that sometimes working on flightsim projects isn't always a priority for us. Thankfully most people are patient and understanding. Unfortunately some feel it's their right to come on here and criticise us for the time it's taking and even suggesting us posting previews is a "tease" and that we get some sort of pleasure out of it. This is not the case. We can appreciate you're keen to get your hands on them, and we're keen to let you have them. when they're finished

Please do NOT request paints in this thread.

Onto the previews..

All of those are fabulous looking. Eagerly (and patiently!) awaiting release.

I don't know about others, but I've been waiting many years for a decent A330/A340 model for FS9 and I know in the end the PA models will be very well worth it. What's a bit more waiting on my part? No harm done and plenty other things to do in the mean time. The idea of patience being a virtue appears to have become long lost unfortunately.

That's really disappointing to hear that the thread was deleted because of the pestering. Of course we all look forward to it, I personally can't wait to see the final result. It's a shame that people can't keep themselves from posting the 'Hi wondering if you could get round to painting X if you have the time no hurry thanks'. Being nice won't change anything. It's not going to make anyone here do the paint. No paint requests means exactly that

By the way, could someone change the link on the homepage to the new thread?

Are you guys going to imorove the wing textures and make them HD? It would be a nice touch for the new models.

There was a guy in the old thread who made the wings HD. I dunno if anyone's been in touch with him, but that'd be an idea.

The paint kit is the same. The only difference is the addition of the sharklet, so you can start painting now.

Is that true that the engines are toothed in airbus a320 sharkleted aircraft? (similar to boeing 787 engine) [can be seen at the latter part of the engine]

Only on the Chevron engine model.. only a few operators use them I believe.

Awesome, Travers!

BTW, why isn't there A320 family virtual cockpit? The A380 has it (although it's a downer for FSX user), and the upcoming A330 and A340 wil have it.
Why there isn't any for A320?

(Please don't criticize this comment. I maybe not aware of what's going on regarding this VC)

There was a VC, but only for A321 (title of the thread said it), WIP. Just search after this thread. But this project is still frozen.

Give those guys a break! The bird in these shots already looks kinda perfect and done, what else do you want to see on newer ones? Other angles and repaints maybe.. Grabe a cup of tea, lean back, relax and wait for it, i presume its 100% worth! :)

The sharklets are stunning ! Is there anyway to make the leading edge of the engine cowling dull amd not so shiny so it gives it that metal feel ?

Darn, here I am looking silly. Another question, are the planes also going to have simulated better fuel efficiency? Or is it just added sharklets with no difference in fuel burn?

The FDE hasn't been modified (except for removing light fx from aircraft.cfg's). I've packed all the files for release now, they just need to be checked.
