A380 Released!

Post by esg »

Greetings all,

It's our pleasure to announce that, as of a few moments ago, the long awaited Project Airbus A380 is available for download on the AVSIM library! After over 2 years of development time and several hundreds of hours of work by all involved, we've set it loose to be enjoyed by the community. It's our wish that she lives up to expectations and provides you, the end user, with countless hours of enjoyment.

The model is made entirely in Gmax and was compiled using the FS2004 SDK. It should perform reasonably well, though is slightly heavier than our A320 series. While it should be mostly compatible with FSX, we promise no support for any issues you may encounter.

Official paints were packaged as standalone aircraft containers, and contain only the wing-view models. The virtual cabin models will be released shortly as a separate download, while the paint kit will only be released after all the official liveries are up. Both RR and EA engines have been modeled.

The final features list is as follows:

- dynamic wingflex with input from several new parameters including ground spoilers, fuel load, and angle of attack
- control surface droop when the engines are off
- independent parallel bogies when on the ground
- custom tire rotation code
- animated pack vents
- idle-reverser animation
- ground spoilers
- smoothed gear and flap animations
- customized nosewheel steering animation
- accurate aileron LAF simulation
- custom coded engine fan start-up and shutdown animations
- windmilling engine fans (including fan inertia)
- transparent fan blades at high RPM
- improved antenna hiding method
- animated window wipers
- dynamic probe sensors
- hard coded "double strobes"

We'll update this thread with download links as they become available.

On behalf of the entire Project Airbus Team, thank you for your continued support and feedback!

Best regards,

- The PA team

They're a bit too big to send by email. It looks like AVSIM downloads go through FTP so try a different browser or try clicking on the link at the bottom of the download page

@airberlin
if you using internet download manager.. try to reduce download connection to 4 or 1.. avsim only can accept 3 download connection at same time from 1 ip..

Unfortunately LH wasn't ready for release yet, a bunch of us are painting various parts of the aircraft to get it finished ASAP.

This plane is great. it accurately depicts the size of the real plane in relation to the FS Environment.
It also is extremely framerate-friendly. :)
I have one question.

Do you guys by any chance know the config for the wingviews so i can look at the back of the wing?

Flies beautiful shes a dream to land the controls feel very accurate. Heavy because of the size be also incredible stable. Landings that I had with it were smooth.

She was running for me with 20-30 FPS in Panel View at KMIA with 50% full World of AI traffic packaged, 10-15 FPS outside not bad def flyable for me in FSX but for me it really all depends on the VC and how much the VC drops my FPS.

Shes a beautiful aircraft and the entire Pairbus crew should be very proud

hmm will there be a manual to come shortly? I am finding it a little difficult to control the speed. Other than that, she flies great.

Guys, you've done it. You have exceeded all expectations of mine. I'd like to thank you all sincerely for your persistent hardwork and all the "stuff" you've had to put up with in these forums.

She flies and looks like a dream (although with me had a tendency to turn left, any ideas what could be causing it) she loanded gracefully and the textures are stunning.

Thank you so much, I am sure I will have many happy landings with your beautiful creation.

Faris ;)

No idea, nobody's every reported that issue before. Are you sure you didn't have more fuel in one wing than the other, for example?

I had a brief episode of that, but I initially disregarded it as something with the autopilot. The idea of it being with the fuel does seem plausible however.

For me, my A380 is suffering from a bad case of the shakes. In other words it tends to vibrate an awful lot if I don't keep it at the right airspeed. This seems to be common when I'm on approach in combination of the flaps. Will there be a manual included that will provide the appropriate airspeeds?

First of all , thanks for this plane

I have the same problem. When I looked through the settings of my joystick I saw that it was set wrong. Is that PA A380 not compatible with Joysticks? Don´t know why it control itself but without a Joystick the plane doesn´t control itself.
Still waiting for Lufthansa Repaint, gonna be the best .

I believe it was around 235 kts or so. It was still controllable, but the shaking did get a little annoying.
