A380 FSX packages released!

Post by esg »

The feature set's exactly the same as the FS9 model's—with the exception that we've now attached the virtual cabin to the wingview model without having to do away with either. The cabin can be replaced with another virtual cabin or cockpit by editing the interior parameter in the model.cfg.

Special thanks to Thomas Ruth for the model conversion.

It must vary with systems.

One thing ive noticed and was wondering if will be fixed later on, is the missing 2 Beacon lights on top of the fuselage.
Other than that its perfect.

Hey there AirNewZealand_A320.
Wanted to do the same.
Can you let me know in easy steps how you did it ?
With the VC view point, can't you ajdust the values back the PA 380 setting in the aircraft cfg file. (once thomas's panel is installed)

Cheers. Rick

Thanks Project Airbus and thanks Tom Ruth for the great FSX flying model.

I have imported Tom's A340 VC panel into the A380 and a good starting point for the Aircraft.cfg eyepoint is 72.0, -1.85, 3.8. That will get you close to the captains position.

I have only done one short 30 mile hop from KCOE (Coeur d'Alene) to KGEG (Spokane Intl.) and the plane flys well. You are all to be congratulated.

Well Done!

This is absolutely amazing I couldn't be more grateful!

Would you expect the VC released as an FS9 package and a separate FSX interior model or is that to early to tell/def not happening?

Thanks again you guys are def the most receptive freeware group on the net.

Thanks mate, Just what the Doctor orderd.
Just one thing at the end .
Not sure but you might have forgotten one little last step and
that is to get into Aircraft.cfg and change the model to mode=VC

Thanks again.
Finally a VC (thanks Thomas), a great A380 (thanks PA) and good FPS

Thanks for this beautiful looking & working A380 fsx model!!!

It is pretty good with Tom's A340 VC. Just try eyepoint = 101.5, -1.0, 3.8 in the aircraft.cfg.
It's just the right setting for me (Lufthansa A380).

Thank You all, i love the PA-A380!!

Sorry, but you cannot have two different internal mdls. Either a VCockpit or a VCabin. I for myself have two different Versions of the same 380 installed, so i can use Cockpit or Cabin. Whatever i prefer at the moment.
but do you know how to adjust the external view camera so it is closer to the aircraft?
Thats new to me. Ive no Probem with the (standart) external Cam, not on two different Systems.

cheers

That's really good news. An already fantastic A380 model with the 100% FSX compatibility. Maybe now I can use the VC of Thomas Ruth :D .

I read something not too long ago of a post a while back of the models not being GMAX to be fsx-native. Now that I see this topic I admit I say that these came out a lot sooner (can't complain!), so I thank you and Thomas Ruth, just about my favorite fsx developer, for surprising me when I least expect it, but not only that, for these wonderful fsx models for an fsx noob like myself  !

My Airbus series is complete, now to have a merge frenzy and enjoy the higher FPS 8-) , thanks for reading my first post!

From the top of my head that error usually results from an incorrect panel entry. Have you done the extra tutorial of merging Ruth's A346NG VC and 2D panel with the PA380? If you have the panel folder titled "panel.340" you will need to change the "panel=" entries in the aircraft cfg to "panel=340" or preferably rename the folder "panel.340" to simply "panel".

Has anybody been able to merge this AWESOME A380 with the Overland A380 vc cockpit. If so, would you be willing to post how you did it? I have a basic idea, but i would like the settings to get the cockpit viewpoint correct. Thanks in advance.

You Cannot do it, The Overland A380 as far as i know was created with the FS9 SDK, it is FS9 Based. For a FSX Cockpit Merge you need a FSX Native Exterior Model and a FSX Native Virtual Cockpit. and before asking if you can change the FS9 Overland A380 to FSX Based, The answer is no.

I installed this freeware yesterday on my Flight Simulator X. I notice that there is no cockpit view. Is the cockpit missing from the product?

Sorry for the amatuer question!

I must post this news. The VC I have got working beautifully with the Thomas Ruth A340 panel. Somehow it feels really complete now. I have flown it and enjoyed the VC experience as I am now familiar with Tom's VC in his A330/A340 models. In the true spirit of Airbus the whole family is now with a familiar cockpit layout for easily moving from type to type. :D

You can not merge the Overland A380 VC with this...the overland is FS9 native, this is FSX native...there is a huge difference...and in any case this is only possible between FSX mdl files and for FSX only(adding virtual cockpits)...in FS2004 this kind of mergings are not possible because the interior and the exterior of the model are grouped all in the same mdl file and you can not add other mdl files in the model.cfg, because it is an option not supported in FS2004...if you merge FS9 native mdl file and FSX native mdl files, like in this case(at least what I guess you are trying to make) the result is that you can't see any of them...be aware of this from now on...you can recognize if an airplane is composed by FSX or FS9 mdl native files by opening them with the notepad...if the left top corner the writing is MDL8MDLH it is FS9 native, if it is MDLXMDLH it is FSX native, so it supports, by adding the proper model.cfg entry another FSX native mdl file which can be used for example for the interiors, in this case virtual cockpit or virtual cabin...Keep in mind that by now the most suitable freeware virtual cockpit for the FSX native Project Airbus A380 is the Thomas Ruth A340 VC, while the most closer VC that you can merge is the one of the wilco A380(at least they made it FSX native)...for the project Airbus A380 VC we have to be PATIENT...I suppose that as for the external model, it will be releasedfirst the FS2004 native version...(and if someone is so sick to test it in FSX platform, he will notice that it will slow down FSX to 10 fps    )then if our wizard Thomas Ruth will shake his wand again, it will be turned in a shining and fps friendly FSX native mdl file
