My First (Full) Repaint...

Hey Guys...

This is my first full repaint, please comment I suppose.
And if anyone could enlighten me on why the tail textures sometimes appear blurred (it's not mipmaps) but in photoshop it offers to save as 24bit but I select 32bit. Anything to do with that?

Thanks
Faris

Sorry for the awful screenshot.

Hello NoseGear,

I think your repaint is very nice for your first one! I remember I tried to make a livery, when it was done
I didn't know from which airliner it was :o

Keep it going ! ;)

The problem is when you run textures direct from photoshop you can get blurry textures. To get rid of the blurriness you will need to download a programme called DXTBmp available here, http://www.btinternet.com/~mnwright/programs/dxtbmp.htm
Run each of the textures you have created through the programme and save as 32bit. This will eliminate the problem

Well you obviously haven't got anti-aliasing turned on, try that first!

Ant-aliasing in the sim?

The thing is it is only on the ridder textures and nowhere else...
If you go that info from the screen-shot you are mistaken, I enlarged it and the edges look rough now...

The edges of your screenshot look rough and jagged right now because anti-aliasing is turned off. Either turn it on in the sim or preferably turn it on using the graphics card setup itself (right click on your desktop and click on the control panel option - at least that's where it is for nVidia cards, no idea on ATI lol), it is odd that its only the tail that looks blurry (although not in the screenshot above) but turning on AA will be a big improvement almost certainly! :-)

The reason they are jagged is because when I took the original screenshot I was pretty zoomed out, so I cropped and streched it so it would be easier to see.

I guess it didn't work...

Looks good, but a sharper screenie may do the trick ;)
Are you going to post it on the net somewhere, NoseGear?

Hi Sean,

I guess you like it... I never uploaded this one because of never solving the problem with the tail textures but if you want I can fix it and post it on flightsim.com.

Search "Faris" on flightsim.com and my 4 uploaded repaints will come up.
Also my screenies are clearer now. ;)

I have added it to flightsim.com library. Just search "Faris" and it will be there.

Another, better screenshot.

Nice work! When you make a screen shot in FS9 or FSX I suggest you to make it in full screen mode, in this way you avoid to have this aliasing(It happens even if you have set the anti aliasing in windowed mode)...the best option in FS9 is fraps, (with the registered version you can catch directly the screenshot in jpg)...anyway nice repaint!

Thanks, it was taken in full screen mode with anti-aliasing on! I use intergrated graphics on my ancient PC and run at about 10FPS average. I'm planning on getting a nice new machine this month with an Intel i5 and a GTS240 graphics card. :D

Thanks
Faris
