A380 Lufthansa D-AIMA flight training @ EDDP

Post by rapax »

Hey,

today D-AIMA did a flight training at Leipzig/Halle Airport (EDDP). I thought you might be interested in that, unfortunately the weather was incredibly bad - rainy, stormy, cloudy and cold.
Anyway, here are some photos. Hope the will be usefull for the PA Lufthansa A380 as well.

I really like this angle

yeah, it really was that bad

I really have to admit that this plane is very impressive and very quiet.
Tomorrow she will be in Dresden EDDC, hopefully with better conditions.

Great pics!

On a side note, I recently implemented some code to make the kind of asymmetric bogie angle you see in the last pic possible.

In simple words, so that the main landing gear hangs as shows in the last picture when in similar conditions.

*Correct me if I'm wrong Derek.

If say the left gear is on the ground, the right gear will still have the 'hanging' animation. This wasn't possible before; even though the right gear would be in the air, it'd inherit the ground animation because the left gear would be on the ground.

These photos also show how difficult it is to get the Lufthansa gray right

This will be a nice feature considering the A380's 20-wheel main landing gear. Crosswind landings will be fun.

Indeed - and also how much of the wing (and pylons) are painted grey.

Tolle Bildern.

Some of those would work well as wallpapers. If not, have you considered uploading them to jetphotos.net?

interesting

oh and before I forget, whoever is finishing up the Lufthansa paint (Sheldon? DT?) might want to look carefully at that side on shot of the Lufthansa text.

Is it just me, or have they also painted the front of the leading edge slat grey, so that when retracted it all blends in?

No, it's a different sort of material or it's got a different sort of finish (don't know what exactly). It's never painted, but they've probably painted the leading edge of the wing to match

Here are some photos of D-AIMA's visit at Dresden Airport EDDC today as part of the Lufthansa A380 Promotion Tour. Unfortunately once again in rainy weather.

BTW, These are the places the A380 will visit or already did visit

June, 2nd, 2010
Frankfurt – Stuttgart – Zurich – Vienna – Dresden – Linz – Munich – Frankfurt
June, 3rd, 2010
Frankfurt – Berlin-Tegel – Hanover – Hamburg – Bremen – Dusseldorf – Cologne/Bonn – Frankfurt

Coming from Vienna LOWW she arrived on runway 04

Image
Note the man on the roof and the small green stickers next to each door to promote Germany's National Football Team. They will fly to South Africa on June 6th.

Runway vacated

Image
Rotated quite early on runway 04

Image
Seconds later she disappeared in the clouds to continue her tour to Linz LOWL

Thx, I used a Canon EOS 40D and a 100-400L in LEJ and a 70-300 IS USM in DRS. With better weather you can get clearly better photos.
I am not really confident with the results, but considering that the weather was like in this video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LH6o0sHhGZs
...it was the best you could get.
