The End of an A340

Post by Plainplane »

The biggest aircraft to come to the Orlando Sanford International Airport since the ending of the XL 747 service are two fifteen-year old A340-300s, formerly belonging to Gulf Air. This shot was taken moments after what may have been this one's last landing, as it is currently scheduled to be scrapped:

It's hard to believe an airplane built only a few short years ago has already ended up as a pile of scrap. It kind of makes you wonder about the early 777's from Boeing and how close are those planes to retirement! (maybe...)

I have seen on Documanter film that all parts are usually going to be recycled... So I don't see it as a retiremnet but as a rebirth.. something like the Phoenix! :p

MSN 27108 / 27109 are both retired, due to be scrapped. Both ex-Varig, originally delivered to BA.
