Airbus A318 PW

Post by jamlava »

Hi

Now I'm not sure if anyone has posted an identical topic to this before or not, but I was wondering if Project Airbus were considering modelling the Pratt & Whitney variant of the A318? I notice LAN and I think Avianca operate the A318 with PW engines and also for a fictional point of view, it would be nice to paint a PW powered A318 for carriers that use IAE engines (e.g. United or Cyprus Airways) as I would assume that these airlines would choose PW. I understand you are very busy what with the A320 V2.1 and A380 VC and having just completed the A321 (which I love). I'm no modelling expert but is it just a "simple" change of the engines to something similar to the IAE ones or will it require a complete remodel from the ground up?

Thanks,
Jamie

Oh well. I can't seem to find any models of the A318 PW for FS at all actually. Ho hum.

Or Maybe if some genius decided to model the engine they could collab on the project with PA! who knows?!

Sadly, I don't have a great deal of modelling experience (or the time to gain some tbh) otherwise I would try it out. However, I am grateful for all the effort that goes into modelling, texturing, designing the FDE so it's accurate, or painting (which is where my knowledge is at with photoshop! - though I am yet to release anything!)

I think it would be really good if an A318 Pratt & Whitney version was made as it would complete the PA collection of the A320 family. Also, what I feel is an important reason for making a PW version is that it was the first engine type to be used on that aircraft. And on a personnel note, I feel that the PW is quite a good looking engine.

I am just wondering. Why hasn't Project Airbus ever made A Pratt & Whitney version of the A318.

The relatively small demand for such a variant doesn't justify the extra workload.

How much of a demand would be required before the type would be considered?

Hmmm. I had a thought and its only an idea. But I was thinking, could a sort of petition or poll be set up to see how many people were actually interested in a PW A318.
