Project Airbus model / Wilco VC Merge?

Has anyone been able to successfuly merge the Project Airbus A3xx model with the Wilco virtual cockpit? I have been able to merge the model and the wilco 2D panel however I would much rather fly with the VC. I recieved instructions from somebody on a different forum sometime last year and was able to merge the two however I accidentaly deleted all of my aircraft and lost the merged aircraft. Has anyone been able to do this?

It is not difficoult, but the best option is to do the opposite,(this operation is possible only with FSX native models and versions and they must be both FSX versions...you can't do that with the FS9 versions, and between FS9 and FSX native models) not adding the wilco virtual cockpit mdl file to the pairbus but adding the pairbus external model replacing the wilco one...in this way, all gauges and panels will work using wilco aircraft.cfg and .air file(since they are designed for those files) all you have to do is just making a backup of the wilco original aircraft.cfg, then you can start to edit, the sections needed from the pairbus aircraft.cfg are [contact points] [exits] [effects] and [lights](but the section [lights] must be rewritten properly to include external pairbus lights, while keeping the internal lights of the wilco cockpit)and obviously all the sections [Fltsim.x] that FSX needs to recognize and put the textures on the 3d model, they must replace the ones in the wilco aircraft.cfg...to avoid a mess, i suggest you to backup all the wilco textures in a separate folder, then you have to add the pairbus textures...(replace wilco texture folders with pairbus texture folder/s) after this, you have to find the wilco virtual cockpit textures , by opening them with dxtbmp(you will recognize them if you are familiar with painting) once you find them, you have to copy them in the first pairbus texture folder...(in all the other pairbus texture folders, you have to add, proper texture.cfg to fallback it to the first pairbus texture folder so the common texture, in this case the wilco virtual cockpit textures will be loaded for each livery). The next step is taking the pairbus FSX native mdl file and put it in the wilco model folder then you have to update the model.cfg file(backup it first), you have to delete the normal= line and replace the name of the wilco external mdl file with the pairbus one...then in every [Fltsim.x] section, you have to edit the sim= line replacing the pairbus .air file name line with the wilco one...Keep in mind that you must own a regular purchased copy of the wilco airbus......this is not a trick to use wilco commercial software illegally, and these merges are anyway not supported...You do this at your own risk.

Okay what lights from the wilco model do i need to keep exactly? I followed all of the other steps and when i select the aircraft in FSX it shows up on the main screen (the one with the a/c rotating) with the right textures and everything however when I go into free flight all that I can see is the lights. The 2D panel shows up and I can also hear the correct sound. Any tips?

Did you used correct pairbus FSX native models ? Because the problem that you describe usually comes when native FS9 mdl files are merged(with the pairbus models is easy to get wrong because mdl files have the same name...open with the notepad the mdl pairbus file that you merged with the wilco and see if there is the note MDL8MDLH or MDLXMDLH, if it is the first one then it is the FS9 model so it is the wrong file, it must have the second writing ) with FSX native mdl files(in this case the wilco virtual cockpit mdl) the result is that the models, when they are loaded in the simulator(not in the menu) get in conflict so both are not visualized, while the effects(in this case the lights) are.

Hi all,
following these intructions I have done the job! Thanks a lot.
I have only one minor problem:
in the wingview from passenger windows I have no texture for the wing.
Does anyone knows how to solve that? Where is this texture in the WIlco files?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Fabio

Just copy all of your Wilco Airbus textures into the textures for the PAIRBUS. Should do the trick. (As long as the interior cabin and VC are connected but I think that is the case with the Wilco.)

I am not sure if doing what you suggest I will also lose pairbus textures... i will give a try tomorrow.
Anyway I solved the problem importing cameradefinition from Overland .cfg

Merging in FS9 do I have to use same routine?

No, in FS9 this kind of merge is not possible, because Virtual cockpit, cabins and external model, are contained in one mdl file, and not separated like FSX...so it is not just a copy and paste...Gmax(or whatever 3d modeling software used) source files are required and then the mdl file must be compiled with FS9 Sdk...something that a very little few FS9/FSX users are able to do ;) ...and as I already sad, FS9 and FSX compiled mdl files, can not be put together.

no other kind of merge is possible in fs9?
only vasfmc or collins panels for pairbus fs9?

other question: i just bought marciano upgrade for wilco... no problem for fsx merged a/c?

Unfortunately not...(you can replace gauges in the panels, by editing the panel.cfg, but no merge like described for FSX is possible in FS9)

Regarding FSX merge I noticed a small problem for contrails: they are not precisely positioned with pairbus... do you know where can it be corrected?
thx
