Airy woosh sound? (video example)

Post by Morhaf » 07 Nov 2010, 20:51

hi everyone

This has (almost) nothing to do with aviation, but I'm asking anyway. its for a video im making, which will feature my a333/a342/a343

where can I find an airy woosh/swoosh sound like this:

I've looked everywhere but I can't even find ONE that sounds like it.. :( all I can find is reversed drum beats, which is not what im looking for (i think)

any help, direction, anything?

thanks.

I have an idea for something you could have a go at, you could try making your own.

I remember hearing about a piece of software called 'Paul Stretch'. I stretches sounds out without altering the pitch (someone stretched a Justin Bieber track out by 800% to make an epic ambient track!). I reckon a sound effect like a sci-fi laser, stretched by 1000% would sound pretty close.

If all alse fails, it may be worth a try!

Right, I have something that could be handy. Not sure if it goes the right way, but you can probably reverse it and stretch it slightly in video editing. I ripped it from a video tutorial on YouTube. Where can I send it (mp3)?

And if you want a rough pointer, the effect you're looking for is a white noise whoosh (or swoosh, it varies) created by messing around with the resonance button in music editing suites.

Mail sent :D

You may have to use your video editing software to reverse them and stretch them out as these go the opposite way to the example in your video. But, if you hear that effect in any video on YouTube and it's a good clean copy, with no other aural intrusions, then I can rip it out as an mp3 for you.

Thanks man! those are exactly what I was looking for!

second one is a little chunky, how do you think I could smooth it out a little? delay, reverb? I got a few options for audio in After Effects, but not much

Thanks,

Actually, forget that last mail I sent, I've managed to get hold of the best one I can find (Bless you Windows 7 with your sound recorder!). The one I'm about to send you has both an up-swoosh and a down-swoosh, so you can chop it as required :D
