My dream

Post by Morhaf »

This is my dream I have for my A340/A330:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lN1xB1pKI2o

notice the wingflex at 1:56 :o :o and the engine-spool-up from behind  If only I could make that..
and look at that bank at 5:08, dont we all want to sit on the left side by the window when that would happen :P

They just shouldnt use After Effects standard lens flares..

GEEEEEZUS! Man oh man, if we all had computers that could run a simulator based on that technology...........the MSFS line would be dead! Or at the very least, they could no longer use the "As real as it gets....." moniker.

A little criticism, those guys did a freakin' fantastic job, but they botched the nose of the A320, but honestly, with that interior, WHO CARES!!!!!????

Who needs to look at a coffee with bubbles on the surface when flying?
No cockpit shot? :(

I think the coffee was one of the finer touches actually. That video really blew my mind, and made we wish I had an A320 for a personal jet.

you know, I THINK its not a simulator, but a 3d rendering.. But maybe we could make some of those effects work for FS? like the red glowing engine compulsor at engine spool-up, or perhaps the heat-haze behind the engines, dynamic wingflex while taxing and with turbulence, things like that... It isn't too impossible...

I hadn't seen that before, it's some nice work. The interior shots are especially well produced, though I feel the exterior could have been more refined. The reflections/shaders in particular were lacking in my opinion. No question it's one of the better productions out there though.

Just so everyone's on the same page, that video was made using 3d rendering software. It has almost nothing in common with the rendering techniques used by FS; just one frame of that video probably took about 2 - 4 hours to render, not including post production. I'm assuming they used some pretty powerful computer(s) during the render process, an average computer would be even slower.

Anyways, I don't think it's too far a stretch for you Morhaf. It's just a matter of knowledge, knowing what programs to use, and a lot of trial and error along the way. I'm pretty sure you could get similar results. I highly recommend you look into Vue though if you haven't already, it's an absolute must when it comes to rendering realistic environments (especially for air-to-air shots). http://www.e-onsoftware.com/

If you want some more inspiration, this is, in my opinion, the best aircraft rendering to date. It's part of Lufthansa's A380 launch campaign, the renderings are fantastic: http://a380.lufthansa.com/VIRTUALTOUR/# ... NCE/FLIGHT

This is the most complete youtube video I could find but it's a bit squished: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bxUqfH8DIGo

I agree, it doesnt feel finished, maybe its the shaders, or the shading itself, maybe even color correction, I cant quite point my finger on it, though I can see some
mistakes with the model itself, and the animation. But I'd be happy if I got my renders to look like that..

And that lufthansa a380 looks indeed stunning, I couldnt believe my eyes, they were just popping out first time i saw it! I've seen the making of too, and they really spend 2 years on completing everything :o they said it took 9 months to perfect a shot where a rose leaf falls down inside the cabin in one of the first class seats.. well just hope I won't be spending that long too..

anyway, some have used Vue before to render flying airplanes, like here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wpYbnVr5Lr4
and: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RydJh_cGtB4 not sure if this is supposed to be a Thunderbird or an Airbus tough..
Did I meantion Vue has animatable clouds :D lets just hope my school gets it quickly, cuz my computer can't take big apps.

First test renders came out good! I used one render and composited it on some images found on google
