Hi GaryG,

I guess you know that Garrett's FMC is basically the default GPS with the vertical flight and speed programming added wrapped up in a nice FMC looking package. This works for me but if you want to get complicated like you get in payware, you also get SIDS and STARS (approach and departure profiles), step climb programming based on weight, top of descent identified, etc, etc. Much more to program but It's also a lot closer to the real thing. That's why it takes a half hour to get to the point of asking permission to push back from the gate. I don't have any payware aircraft and don't fly on-line because I don't need that level of realism. My flight profiles are not as precise as the real thing because I set them up to get me about 20 miles out where most of the time I switch to visual and use the autopilot, or manually fly the approach.

Hope this answers your question.

Fred.

Actually I did not ask a question. If you know some basic XML, you know that the code that Garrett's XML written fmc is quite a good use of code, so it's not simple at all.

Actually I said it was basically the default GPS with vertical elements added. If that can be construed as simple I was mis-understood.

I have also looked at Garrett's XML code and am impressed. My only point was that for the most part, FMCs that come with payware aircraft go farther.

I think it's time we returned to the subject of this thread, the 717. I am still looking forward to it very much.

Current occupations take too much time, so the 717 is on hold for the time being.

Seeing how things are coming along lately, I've decided to quit on the 717, at least until August. There's not enough time to move this project forward until then.
However, if someone wants the source files of the model, I'm glad to upload and send them.
Current state:
Exterior:
-Needs the wing control surfaces cut
-Detailing and antennas on the fuselage
-Animation for landing gear and exits
-Fuselage and wings need reunwrapping

Interior:
-Cabin's complete
-VC needs almost everything made. I've only made the front panel, yokes, part of the seats and wipers & switches for these.

Should anyone want to continue the project until then, post it here and I'll contact you via PM/e-mail for the files. If nobody's interested around here, I might upload it to simviation's "orphan" files, just in case.

So that would be August of next year, right? Or was that a Type-o?

It's not that old, and considering there are only about 3 other choices out on the market, this one was looking very promising.

Hi Alexis, Esg it really sucks that the 717 is on hold a real shame of a great aircraft that gets ignored in the fs world at least for now but we can understand real life school , work, comes first. you guys could try this guy Sagga Toure he's working on a 717 maybe he can continue it ? http://devinci.invisionzone.com/index.p ... ge__st__20 have you guys spoken to thomas ruth about taken over the project? now that I think about it threes hardly anybody left in freeware groups, one last group would be http://enigmasim.com just giving out ideas here I would hate too see a great model get tossed away.

That's a pretty neat model. It's really bad that you don't have the time to finish it.

Is there somewhere I can find it? Because I would love to take a stab at it (and hopefully include an FMC with it).
