(sorry, I just had to)
as for the 717, I will be texturing, but I am kinda the self-proclaimed king of procrastination. On that note, I really need to just finish up that TAM A320 of mine.

Man I miss Olympic Airways. Years ago when you were allowed to, we used to park in the Terminal 1 car park at Toronto Pearson Int'l, and look down over the tarmac. I was all of about 3 years old, but I specifically remember an Olympic 742 parked below us, and I was fascinated by the Giant Olympic Rings on the tail. Absolutely beautiful.
Alexis, I am very much looking forward to the 717. I'm a fan of the DC-9 styled aircraft. Can't wait.
Does anyone know of a good B717 sound file by the way?

Last flight of Olympic Airways was 424 from Toronto with an A340-300 and landed at 11:10 on September 29 2009 after a very low fly over the airport to say goodbye!
For the painters
Olympic always had names for their fleet.. here is the list of the types and names!

Re: 717
that is a -800 not -300... big difference between the two... so it might be true on the -300. i havent found a pushback video on youtube in which they were setting the flaps. but ill continue to look later.dotsalgon wrote:Hmm you are right.. I saw some videos.. not that realistic..

Techmen has it done correctly. I just saw and Air NZ 737-300 video and when the leading edge retracted they were not in sync.

Re: 717
No-One Said it does on the 717, you brought up the 737, so i finalized it.
Assymetric Deployment
The following is my theory
The assymetric flap deployment is from the fact that the slats are not mechanically linked as shown here. The slats are IIRC Hydralicly powered, Pressure in the pistons are what drive the slat up and down, and because pressure builds at slightly different rates across the system so the slats will deploy and retract at different rates.
I personally saw the modelled effect on a SWA 737-300 over winter break so it does exist and I even saw it on the ryanair video you posted a while back, but it appears the NGs have a new setup making them able to deploy more insync than on the classics, that combined with the relativly low resolution of the video made it hard to see.
EDIT: Im unsure if the 717 has it, what will determine if it has it will be if it 1) Has indepentantly moving slats and 2) how the system driving the slats works.

Re: 717
however, the 717 has the same exact wing as the DC-9 so the wing is older than the 737NG's and may possibly not have been updatedPAIRBUSBEST wrote:Who said 717 is older???

Re: 717
Well in this video shows that the DC9 had the slats move like Techmens 737..
