Re: 717
Hi all,
as much as I hate boredom, I decided to take up this challenge, make the gauges for the 717. Well as everybody know, I`m quite new in this kind of stuff and obviously not professional at all, but with time, one can learn everything.
Some important fact: The gauges will hopefully be compatible with both FS9 and FSX. This is due to the fact that I`m making parallel development because it`s worth for me. Well if they become good enough, Alexis might want to add them up to his package, who knows?
In the mean time, a current screeshot which show a very early stage of this development. Enjoy and criticise !!!!!!!

Nice work so far. I found some Boeing 717 photos on the AirTran Airways website including one of the cockpit -

Hope it helps.

Re: 717
I could have sworn several people have made MD-11 gauges included in their freeware. A lot of them have been made for FS2004 already but one or two planes have gauges that work with FSX. That might be easier, if given permission, to construct your gauges off of the coding from theirs since the cockpits are so similar to each other (at least the displays are). I'll post some pictures so others don't have to do a lot of searching.
What I have seen so far seems to be absolutely fantastic so far, a much needed add-on for FSX is finally being produced with quality. You already deserve much credit for attempting to build such a bird in the first place from scratch! Can't wait!

@Alexis: Nice work man Keep it up
@iheart707 Indeed you are right, the gauges look quite similar, but 99% they were made in C and since I'm getting the hang of XML, most likely they will serve no purpose. However thanks for the greetings, we'll do what we can.

About an hour's worth of work. Finished the cabin wall set-up models and completed. Created a pax seat (still needs legs btw). Created and cloned luggage bins.
If FS9 can handle it, I'll add the cabin. Else I'll add it to FSX (if I export to FSX).
Working pax tray-tables:
Luggage bins (without their will-be-openable doors):

Took it a bit further yesterday. Textures are placeholders. http://www.you3dview.com/video/523/Boei ... -Cabin-WIP
It looks deformed because of the way MAX renders the panorama on the cylinder. Couldn't export to QuicktimeVR.

Re: 717
That is looking really good! Congratulations
Re: 717
It is FS9.
The cockpit shape is mostly done, there are still many holes to cover and small issues to go after, but that should be the look of it, generally.
Also tried my luck with an opening cockpit window (blue window in previous picture). Many mistakes there too, will be fixed when there's time for these.
The pedestal is from the exterior model, it will be way more detailed than this crude model. The same goes for everything else as well, naturally.

It looks fantastic so far. I'm glad to see consistent updates on your project, can't wait!
One question popped into my mind, I hope you don't mind me asking about this so early on. When you say, "everything else as well" are you planning on including 3D switches and knobs? Also will this extend to the overhead panel too? Just curious....

Re: 717
Every day it seems as if there is reasonable progress is being made towards completion. So it is ownly right to start to think about the sounds.
Does anyone know if a good soundset is around for the 717? I don't beleive it exists for any version of FS.
I know they use either the Rolls Royce BR715-C1-30 or the Rolls Royce BR715-A1-30 engines on the 717. but there's not much difference between the two sets....
However I know that the MD-95 has the IAE V2500 series engines that sound very similar to these. I on one hand would rather have the real deal. Although, it might be a good alternative, what does the fourm think?

Re: 717
I have agreed to work with Alex on this 717, and will be one of a few texturing this beauty.
I had not thought of Olympic Airways until recently, but I guess I shall throw it into the list.

Where did you get that idea??? LOLesg wrote:Somebody's obsessed with Olympic
I always wanted to be a pilot but never did so I've been flying on the sim from the 1995 version.. Since and after FS2002 I've been flying only with OA as it was the airline that I had my first flight at the age of 5. Still remember the B737-200 Olympic flight from KGS to ATH (Hellinicon bakc then)!!

Here is some help!!
Didn't ask though... is it going to be fs9 or fsx??? (Stupid question I know... :S )
Re: 717
There will be an FS9 version with a cockpit and wingviews (together). If I manage, I'll add the full cabin to it as well. The FSX version will be with the full interior+wings and perhaps a few extras. Regarding Olympic, it's one of my favourite 717 paints, but with the Olympic Aviation colours.

Can anyone clarify the following and its meaning... "While everyone waits for the #a380 if you wanna take a shot @ taking part with Alex's 717, check this out http://bit.ly/c60YcS "
Re: 717
The poet means that: I'm making a 717 independently of PA, to try my skills and expand them. If anyone wants a part in the developement of the 717, feel free to contact me via PM. DerKranich and PAIRBUSBEST are already working on it. See that as an "open source project" I've started.AirNewZealand_A320 wrote:Can anyone clarify the following and its meaning...
