Is there any chance to add sounds of switches in the cockpit, or is it hardcoded?

I am almost dead certain that they are almost exclusively hardcoded. The only one I can think of that you could change with sounds alone is the cabin alert system. You could just add in a "click" sound on top of the alert ding within the sound file. And I suppose you could do the AP disengage switch click sound, but that might be kinda pointless, since there is no easy way I can think of of adding in the click for the AP engage operation :/

It's very hard to add V1, Vr sounds too?

Again, as far as I know, these need to be hardcoded...something I do not know how to do. I think the V1, Vr sound DLLs should be here somewhere online. Probably somewhat similar to the altitude callouts that Francois has.

hmmmmmmmm I saw that number of freeware/payware airplanes are usin Freeware XML Sound gauge. I though that gauge is for that type of custom sound (switches, calls, etc)?

Yes. Ohhh, I see--I meant 'hardcoded' in the sense that it is built into the code that comes with the A/C, not in the sense that the sound events are attached to the model, if that is what you thought.

I can add all the sounds as you want (I have add already callout sounds , the throttles notches sounds, the click sound on the FMS key pad, the "ding" sound when aircraft toggle in mach mode, the engine fire alarm).

Because I use with the aircraft, the dsd_xml_sound3.gau of DOug Dawson (with his authorization).

I would like add many sounds, but I don't know the real sound in an airbus cockpit and what's events are linked to a sound.

If someone gives me wav or mp3 file, and the event to linked to the sound, I do it in few minutes.

I cannot have more than 99 custom sounds. ( for this time, I use 15 sounds, so 84 places are available).

Sounds are welcome !

When FMS run, FMS controls CLIMB and SPEED

If you are in managed mode for ATL (push ALT Knob and orange led) the FMA displays CLB in green
If you are in selected mode for ALT ( pulled ALT, and no orange LED) FMA displays OP CLB in green
in all cases, FMS controls climb

IF you are in Managed Speed (push SPD knob, that display "---") FMA displays SRS from takeoff to ACCelaration altitude, and THR CLB after Acceleration Altitude
If you are in selected Speed, (Pull SPD Knob, that dispaly your selected speed), SRS and THR CLB are the same that in managed mode, but FMS adapt the aircraft pitch to maintain speed.

FMA readings :
Green color = active
Cyan color = armed, but not active.

You must engage AP just after takeoff. But you can keep all the mode in selected mode.

If you want fly as a FSX basic aircraft in SPEED mode, you must desactivate the FMS and toggle all mode in selected, but it is not realistic.(Real aircraft don't climb in SPEED mode, because A/THR must work at constant thrust, and not change the engines ower all the time.

Read the chpater about the AP and the FCU of the provisional manual --> Provisional user manual

Thank You.

Now about callout. If I'm making smooth landing, callouts 50,40,30,20 are repeating twice, even if altitude is for example 42 it says 50, if altitude is 23-22 it says 30...( Ex. 50-50, 40-40, 30,30...) It's a bit annoying for me...

I am sorry if I am very captious to a variety of knick-knacks.

I will add some switches sounds in the RAR or ZIP archive mate, like gear up lever, flaps, lights switches and so on. Is that ok?

Callout and autoland is , at this time, based on the radio altimeter (altitude is given by the aircraft radar), not on the baro altimeter (which work with atmospheric pressure), like the real aircrafts, so in FSX if the ground level near airports can havevalue change (addons mesh problem).

It is planned that I changes that , because, with the actual system (the radio altimeter), with some scenery and mesh, runway is up the ground or down the ground and that can occurs a aircraft crashes, because radio height cannot "understand" a quick change of ground level create by the addon mesh.

here is a sample of a typical case where the autoland and the callout will become crazy :

Image

but in the real life, the auland works with radio altimeter, but in real lie, there isn't addon mesh porblem with a runway 50 feet above the ground around :D

The only solution that I can do is to take the destination airport elevation, and use the barometric altimeter, to control the autoland and the callout. With this solution, the terrain level around the airport will have no importance, but the risk is big, because, if you not set your baro properly, your alimeter data will be wrong, and the aircraft will crashes on the ground. This is the reason why I don't know yet if I change the system.

There are problem with the 2 and no universal solution.

I checked A320 maximum range on Wikipedia, it says 3,200 nmi (5,900 km; 3,700 mi) fully loaded. Anyone tested the range of PA A320 v3? I saw in description for PA A320 a number around 4.200km I think, much lower than its RL brother. :)

Wikipedia is not already the right way to the light.

The rel data of the A320 Airbus are the following (My data source are the offical FCOM documents from airbus Insdustrie that I pocess) :

You have 2 versions of the A320 about fuel capacity :

standard version :
- 2 wings outer tanks of 464 gallons each ( 1760 liters)
- 2 wings Inner tanks of 3751 Gallons each ( 14199 liters)
- 1 Center tank of 2180 gallons ( 8250 liters)
Total = 6303 Gallons (23859 liters)

Version long range :
- 2 wings outer tanks of 464 gallons each ( 1760 liters)
- 2 wings Inner tanks of 3751 Gallons each ( 14199 liters)
- 1 Center tank of 2180 gallons ( 8250 liters)
- 1 Aditional center tank (called ACT) of 790 gallons (2992 liters)
Total = 7096 gallons ( 26851 liters)

This data are the useable fuel (not the real capavcity of the tanks, because fuel can expand his volume).

1 - Fuel consumption is very variable, according, atmopheric pressure, ambiant temperature, flight level etc ......

2 - Flight Simulator raves completely about fuel consumption : At sea level, FSX has a fuel consuption 2 times too high according the reality : For exemple, Engine IAE V2527-A5 of the A320 have a fuel consumption at idle (20° OAT at sea level) of 450 kilograms/hours per engine.
FSX give 900 kilograms : the double !!!!
3 - in contrario, the high altitude consumption in FSX is too low.

So, this part is not properly simulated in FSX.

So, there is a difference between max range of an aircraft datasheet and commercial used range because, there is always a security fuel reserve .

Yes, excuse me, I have received you mail.

I will add sounds for buttons and levers. By cons, for the trottles I prefer my notches sound, but with the next panel update, I wil post your thottle notches sounds version to have the opinion of users.

But I think that there are many others sounds or talk message in the cockpit, or alarm sounds.

I wait all proposals to add sounds.

But my priority is to finish the FMS code. After, I will work on esthetic and sounds.

Thanks

The V3 version is an old version.

Now (since 8 months) I work on an new ehanced version with a light FMS, that manage real verticale navigation, A/THR, SID/STAR and coming soon Approachs.

You can downlaod a beta of this new version in this post : viewtopic.php?f=23&t=1942&start=550#p23447

and the last updated panel here : viewtopic.php?f=23&t=1942&start=550#p23512

Attention : Read the install manual, because this aircraft requires 2 Dll files to work. one is provided with the Aircraft (XMLVARS.Dll) and one must be downoaded on the robbie Mc Elrath website ( link in the install manual)

And you must edit athe DLL.XML file of FSX to declare these 2 DLLs.

Read the user manual, because many many many new features with these aircrafts.

And you can find here the list of airport realized with SID and/or STAR : viewtopic.php?f=23&t=2637

Link to downlad directly airports : http://www.db-online.fr/francois/FD_FMC/

It is a totally new aircraft !

Hi Francois,

thanks for your ongoing work, it is amazing what can become out of a FSX 'bus even without expensive paystuff.

I do not mean to hijack your thread, but for long-range flights I love to use Thomas Ruth's A330-200/300 aircraft in FSX which also can use the FSX default A321 panel (yes a 330's flight deck is larger but for now there's nothing better in the freeware department...).

Any idea if it would be hard to adapt your A32x panels to work in a 330? Just copying the whole panel did not work out so far. I guess there must be something specific to alter else you would not have made a specialised version for each model...

Thanks again

Hi deroger,

thanks for your interst.

The old V3 version can be quickly adapted to the Tom ruth's aircraft. That's need some modification in the aircraft.cfg, and to change the interior model (A330's tom ruth has a specific VC).

For the FMC version that I am working, that's needs many work, because the .air file must be adapted with the real thrust curves of the engines (I have passed 2 weeks of work on the air file of the A320) , and I must adapt the performance data of the FMS for each aircraft.

This is the reason why a universal FMC that manage vertical navigation doesn't exist (like VAS FMC), because for the climb and descent, the FMS settings must be write for each aircraft.

So, be patient ; Project Airbus Team are buiding a extraordinary A330/A340, with a high definition Virtual cokpit. This aircraft will be the most beautiful A330 and I will adapt my FMS to these aircraft.

I am in final about this FMS (I am testing the last part : the approaches) and I hope post this weekend the beta panel with approachs working (with automatic management of all approach procedure like DME arc, or turn back after a 45° leg to get the runway axis).

Follow this thread to get news

No airbusfan, Phases will be the same.

I must adapt :
- the control of N1 value according engines data
- the control of the pitch forthe constant thrust climb
- the Vref, V1, V2, Vr, Vapp and speeds
- all the displays symbols on the PFD for the min/pax falps speed, Stall speed, overspeed
- all the setting that are coputed according of the weight of the aircraft.

THis part will be quickly realized.

For exemple, to adapt the panel to the Tom's A330, I think that i can do in 1 month (because I will must re-write also the .air file that is not realistic).

The huge work with the futur PA A330is to re-write all the panel bitmap location, animation and mouse area, because the A330 VC will be totally new.

I am ready to post the updated panel for the A320, with the Approach function fully working. I have found the solution that works for all type of hoding pattern. I have prepared two airports with the complete data (SID/STAR and all approachs exept missed approaches : EHAM and KLAS).

These approachs can be used, even if you havn't select a STAR : THe only important thing is that the last waypoint of the flight plan is aan official Transition according real charts (An IAF).
EHAM has 3 transitions
KLAS has 7 transitions

And great news ; The XMLVARS.dll of Tom aguilo, that I use with my panel had a limitation to 1024 variables max. So I have asked to Tom if I could chage this DLL to manage more variables (I need between 1600 to 1800 variables for the FMS data) and Tom has react immediatelly. He has wrote a new version of XMLVARS.DLL that can manage 2048 variables. My FMS can now works for all type of approaches and missed approaches.

But It remain to me to write the missed approach code (with the TOGA sequence and missed approach procedure)

So, I don't know if I pos hte update now, or if I write before the missed approach code. In the second case, I think that I need a week to write this code.

What do you prefer ?

Hi all,

With two weeks of delay , that I post this update panel because the task was difficult (and there are probably a few bugs).

This new version brings management approaches, which has not been easy to code, I thought several times crazy !

* For the moment, I wrote approaches 2 airports only:
- KLAS - Las Vegas
- EHAM - Amsterdam Schiphol

the choice of these two airports because they have together all scenarios approaches:
- ARC DME (KLAS)
- Circuit waiting early approaches (the 2 airports)
- turn back just after a straight segment with 45 ° angle

This requires that you reload these two airport I've updated the files on the site Freenav DB Group:

Freenav Data base group with approaoches for KLAS and EHAM

The updated panel is here :
Panel beta 0.55 CFM & IAE with the update of XMLVARS.DLL

Warning: Because I reached the limit of dll "XMLVARS.DLL" which in its version 1.01 that could handle 1024 variables , I asked the author, Tom Aguilo, modify it he did instantly! Really a great thanks to Tom !!!

Now, the FMS can handle 2048 variables of type "String", which leaves me place for the panel and finish for writing "missed approaches".

So, the zip file contains a folder called panel "XMLVARS 1.02": You will find in the new DLL.

To install it:

1 - open your FSX.CFG

2 - In the section [TRUSTED], delete the line corresponding to the version 1.01 (it should look something like: [color = # ee6d11] D: \ Microsoft Flight Simulator X \ XMLVars.dll.nhuzltbrlarzculaiuwcrnnibkahnkilnuqekebq = 1 [/ color])
3 - FSX.CFG save your file;
4 - copy and overwrite the new "XMLVAR.DLL" that comes with this package, in the main FSX folder.
5 - Start FSX, is accept 2 message to say that this DLL is trusted.

If launching a flight with the aircraft at the time of display SID or STAR, you see only 0, your computer needs a little update. Indeed, this DLL is written in Visual C + +, so it should be same microsoft library to make it work. There is very little chance that you have the problem.
However, if it arose, I included in the zip file panel, a folder called "Visual C + Redist" which contains the libraries 32 and 64 bit depending on your OS. These files come directly from microsoft, no fear.
- Vcredist_x86.exe is if your OS is 32-bit
- Vcredist_x64.exe is if your OS is 64-bit.

But normally you will not have to use it, because a lot of software is written in C + +, so your machine should already have these libraries.

Descent page
Image

Approaches to what counts is the last point of the STAR or last point of your flight plan if you do not have to be a STAR transions of the airport.
For example, EHAM has 3 transitions SUGOL, ARTIP and RIVER
KLAS 7 transitons: BLD BAMAA, DUBLX, SKEBR, PRINO, KADDY, CRESO.

In short, if your washing last waypoint flight plan (which is just before the destination airport) and a transition, then you can view the available approaches push this transition.

Here, for example, all the approaches available for the transition of ARTIP EHAM:
Image

By clicking on the runway name, you will view the details of the approach, simply click on the button "ADD APPROACH" for it to be integrated into the flight plan.
You can go back, because once loaded approach, the ADD button becomes DEL APPROACH (same principle as SIDs and STARs.)

Image

If the runway has an ILS or LOC, the frequency NAV1 radio is automatically preset by the FMS, you have nothing to do with that side. By cons, by default, I have not activated the buzzer tags, so if you want to hear the beep-beep, it will press the CALL button on the radio. But if you do nothing FMS will works properly to guide the aircraft, if offcourse, have seen ILS arm button and press the APPR button at the right time (when you are near to 30 ° or less of axis of the runway).

You can see here that this approach SPL a holding that weapon as during the STAR button with the CSTR, and there is a turn to the right after a segment (ie the first 45 ° turn will left and right segment according to the duration of the map (1mn here) and turn right to appear in the runway (where it will snap buttons ILS APPR).

Here is the sample charts of a "LEG" procedure turn :
Image
This is is a LEG with Right turn.

The FMS wiill manage automatioccaly this type of track, but the track will ot appears on the ND, because I don't konw how to draw that. So, only the point to point line will be display, so the aircraft will do the real turn and track.

You can have as another procedure : DME-ARC.

In this case, the FMS automatically adjust the frequency of the VOR or NDB concerned in NAV2. You do not have to worry about radio, FMS manages everything.
The switch position on the swicth VOR2 to VOR position , DME Arc to follow. I come to an accuracy of + / - 0.1 Nm

I reminds all of this is automatically in managed mode!

If you want to test a DME ARC, you can try one of the approaches to runways 01L and 01R in Las Vegas KLAS, from Boulder Transition "BLD" (it must pass through the transition BLD, so STAR end lists, which are referred to as "ALL runways."

FOr the turn back leg segment , you can try runways 18C, 36C for 27 36R of EHAM from any transition.

Warning: I am not able to trace on the ND true path of the aircraft, so the track you will see is the classic route, you will not see the trajectory lineof the DME ARC or turn back leg, but confidence made to the aircraft and look at the the ND in PLN mode when the procedure takes place.
FOr the ARC-DME, remember to put your switch VOR2 the VOR position to monitor the distance to the beacon.

THE speed and descent are also fully managed, so for you to monitor, pull out your flaps at the right time.

FOr one landing ILS, you can stay with all modes managed until touchdown.

FOr one landing RNAV vertical guidance stops about 1000 to 1500 feet above the runway threshold, it will finish manually.

In any case, trust in the FMS even if you feel it does not follow the expected trajectory (normal, because I do not know drawing on the ND), it will operate alone and in accordance with official charts.

If you want to load the approaches charts, of the runways here is a handy site that allow to find easily european maps : http://charts.aero/airport/EHAM

For US aiports, you have FLTPLN web site : http://www.fltplan.com/AwMainToApproach ... CH&end=end

I will create other approaches carried airports in the current database.

Last thing you often hear "clicks" or "dings" sound made there not careful, this is my debugging, it lets me know if this portion of the code has been executed.

good flight

Hi Francois,

though the FMC is surely the more complex and awaited feature by far, I'd like to offer a suggestion regardless of the model... wouldn't you also be interested in creating a "modernized" Airbus instrumentation? This means, get rid of the old standby instruments and replace them with one of these new combined IESI instruments? Doc here: http://www.thalesgroup.com/Portfolio/Do ... si_en_pdf/

Else, I'll happily wait for anything you create to make the Airbusses better.

no bug and not your fault.

- Vref is the minimum security landing speed according Flaps config and weight, decided by the aircraft constructor : AIRBUS.
- But in real life, aircraft landing speed used is VAPP for more security . The blue plain triangle on the PFD is the VAPP and if your are in managed speed, the FMS set the speed to VAPP.

VREF = ( Aircraft Grossweight(kilograms) / 1000 ) + 70 for the A320

VAPP = VREF + 5 Knots + (1/3 of the wind component with a maximum of + 15 knots for this offset).

All the formula that I use come from the official AIRBUS FCOM documentation

So, the VAPP cannot be higher than VREF + 20 Knots.

The FMS computes the VAPP alone. All works fine. You had many wind for your landing. This is why you have seen a difference between the 2 speeds.

Is there any chance to implement to load an aircraft state (cold&dark, taxi, cruise...)? It is quite anoying when I want to test quick something on this aircraft, but I must to start engines and stuff every single time.

Cold & dark is easy to do without changes. Create a free flight somewhere, then turn off everything. Save the flight as default. Ta da! From now on, all aircraft will start in cold & dark state (For the most part...I've had some be a bit weird). IDK about taxi and cruise. Those would probably be kinda pointless (in my opinion), since you are probably going to start from cold & dark anyway--let's face it: The most fun part of sim flying is the takeoff and landing...not the cruise or taxi.

I know I know it's pointless for full flights. :) I was talking about various testing, such as EZCA landing profiles, various sounds (roll, touchdown, etc), and above all if I want to capture a clip of A320 landing with FSrecorder, firstly I must pass the whole cold & dark procedure, then slew to final approach position, then land... IF A320 don't turn off the engines after slew, it tends to do that occasionally. :(

I have coded in this aircraft the cold & dark state, if at the begin of the flight, the aircraft is on the ground. I have maid this because that was a request of most users.

If you don't want to be in cold & dark state, your aircraft must be airborne.

So, if you be impatient, you can start engines by "CTRL +E". I kept the possibility of this automatic start and you do not have to use the manual procedure with APU,bleeds ,valves and pumps.

in few cases, holding pattern are not realistic. My code is not perfect. I am writing a new code for the hoding pattern for a better accuracy.

I have wrote new code for holding pattern, to remove the delayed time of reaction a the start of the hold, if the aircraft is not in the perfect heading for the hold.

It seems to work better.

I need to improve DME-ArC also.

Here, a sample, with a crosswind of 50 kts for the holding pattern, and a small DME-ARC, just before the final approach (Runwqy 23 LFBD by ETPAR transition ):

IMPORTANT :

AUTOLAND has a bug with PANEL 0.55 : Don't use it. In Final, turn of the AP and land in manual.

I am correcting the bug.

Hi,

Here is the update of the panel in 0.56 version :

What's new from 0.55 to 0.56 version , April, 14
==============================================
- Complete rewrite of holding pattern code for better responsiveness of the aircraft when it begins a circuit
- Fixed the bug that since the arrival of the management approaches prevented the autoland function normally
- Changing the DME ARC code, to work with any beacon distance
- Introduction of a calculation based on the ground speed to determine the rate of descent during the approach phase during descent managed (when you don't use ILS).
- Changing the recording and reading data gauge from the FMS when saving a flight: now, approaches data are considered.
Attention, therefore, all your old backup are no longer usable, you must delete all your old FMS data backupfiles (in the FSX flicgt plan folder !
- Change the reversion mode : If you pull the V/S knob, as you know , it toggles the airplane in "reversion mode", and all other modes toggle in selected : So I added a function that automatically puts the HDG in the course now followed by the aircraft to avoid a sudden change of direction.
- Fixed some minors bugs (FMA display)

So, now, you can save your flight when you want; all the FMS data will be backup.

The link : Panel 0.56 CFM & IAE

If you have not already updated your XMLVARS.dll, I have made a separate package with the new version and the C++ libraries if you havn't them : XMLVARS.dll 1.02 + Librairies C++ 32 et 64 bit

I have updated LFBD airport (Bordeaux Merignac - France) , with approaches with his 4 transition/IAF :
- VAGNA
- LIBRU
- DIRAX
- ETPAR

See the Freenav DP group thread about SID/STAR to download this updated airport

Good flight

Hi Francois...I was trying out the new 0.56 panel, I am not sure if I am doing something wrong, I still can't see the approaches when I click on approach, but I can see the ILS frequencies and all data when I click on the title bar. I was trying a Flight from EDDF - EHAM

Also, the chrono is not being displayed anymore, I had used it with 0.55. Clicking on the Chrono button does not display the timer on the ND. Just two quick things I tested.

Thanks for the great work!!

Cheers!!

Hi charan

Have you updated XMLVARS.dll ?

Since panel 0.55, panel requires XMLVARS 1.02.

See previous post.

So, to see or to load an approach, you must load a STAR before.

I will check chrono this evening.

Thanks for your interest

Francois

Hi Francois,

yes, I updated XMLVARS.dll from panel v0.55, deleted entry from fsx.cfg and accepted twice when fsx started for the new .DLL.

Yes i did add the STAR and confirmed the flight plan. Then I was trying to add Approach but could not do it. I got the No Approach red flashing message.

Hi Charan,

May be you have reached the end of your STAR before to load your approach.

If you overfly the last waypoint of the STAR without load an approach, the FMS toggles in manual approach mode.

But to be sure, make a new test and if the problem occurs, save your flight (in virtual cockpit, because the FMS data save gauge doesn't work in 2D cockpit) because when your save your flight, the FMS save his data in a specific file, and don't land (otherwise, the FMS backup file will be deleted).

Stop your flight and send me by mail this FMS backup file. This file is in the FSX flight plan folder and has the same name as the flight plan + FMS dataSave.csv

Example : if your flight plan is called "IFR Frankfurt Main to Schiphol .PLN" , the FMS backup data file will call "IFR Frankfurt Main to Schiphol FMS dataSave.csv"

With this file, I will see what's happens. THis is a blackbox. You can open this file with a notepad or EXCEL.

here is a sample of this FMS backup file :

I didn't finish the flight so it was definitely before the last waypoint...I will make one more test stop the flight and send you the blackbox file, which if I may add is a nice touch too :)

Think to save your flight before stop it. This is when you save the flight that the FMS data are saved in a file.
