Hi Francois...
Thanks for the updates. Just clicked on the ' 'Here a hotfix with the Autopilot gauge' ( http://freenavdbgroup.com/Temp/A3xx_autopilot.xmland) got a load of data...is this correct? If so, I'm assuming I copy it and add it to the .xml file?
Sorry if it's a dumb Q...

It seems that is a FSX bug because I haven't addon scenery for LIMC. Can you check on your PC ?

May I jump in. Just checked a short flight from Turin to LIMC (scenery only FSX default) and landed w/o prob with AP and ILS RW35R autoland.

EDIT: There is a small "gap" of overlap from "2" ILS beams 27 nm in front of LIMC airport arriving from the south: LIMC RW35R with ILS "MLP" and RW17L with ILS "IAM" with the same frequency 109.90. May I suggest to activate ILS a bit later during approach, then it should work fine.

I decided to work again on an Installer for Flight simulator aircraft.

So, I need help to check some information if some people agree to test a basic function of the installer.

No risk
No malware/viruses
No modification of your files/windows/PC

Why ?

Because I write the soft in an old language (VB6), on an old OS (win XP) and I need to know if 3 or 4 functions work before to work more on this project.

This soft has no install code, and does only the following things :
- "Setup" ask to windows all the FSX paths
- "setup" try to read (only read) DLL.XML file
- "Setup" try to copy DLL.XML file at the root of your C: drive
- "Setup" copy 3 Microsoft's DLL required on your system only if you have an older version or if they are missing. You can keep these 3 DLL in all case (they are VB6 runtime DLL, provided with many software)

No installation required, you can run directly.

The goal :

- I want to know if "Setup" can run on a 64b OS. So you are welcome if you have Win 7, Win 8 and WIn 10 (I think that it exists ...

)
- I want to know if "Setup" can copy a file on a 64bit system, because I know that Microsoft added many annoying and useless security since Vista.

When you launch you have :

Click on "NEXT" button

you must have (here on a computer that haven't FSX some path are empty) :

With the correct path of all FSX folder

Click on "Read DLL.Xml" button to get the list of modules declared in your Dll.xml file
This action copy also the dll.xml file in your C:\

Please, can you report to me if all work fine (and if dll.xml has been copied on your C:\) , and tell me your OS. Screenshot of the program window with the path are welcome.

I have tried your Setup.exe file, François.

I extracted the file into the desktop.

Then, I executed it with administrator rights.

Then, error!

My computer runs Windows 10 (64-bits).

Setup 0.3 beta extracted and a) directly executed or b) opened as an admistrator.
Result after a) or b) on my end, WIN7 64, german version: The 3 data path have been correctly recognized, but no dll list in the table window with a popup window "Erreur d´exécution ´76: Chemin d´accès introuvable".

Hello..
I've just moved from Win 7 to Win 10

So far so good, except that when I go to the FMC to load a SID..I'm getting the SID title, but no other info.

Not sure why this is..Any ideas please?

Xmlrools.dll is not correctly installed.
Check if you have a line with xmltools.dll in the [trusted] section of your fsx.cfg file.
If not, you have to install again xmltools.dll and to declare the module in your dll.xml file

Ok, I fixed setup.exe, by include inside VB6FR.dll for win10 user and fixed (I hope..) the read command of dll.xml.

Now, I know that :
- My API works to get Windows register key for FSX paths
- I can search a string (to check if XMLtools.dll is already installed) in dll.xml file
- I can read and write in dll.xml file to declare XMLtools.dll and create a backup copy of the file

So, I can write an universal installer for Aircrafts and an updater

If other people can return feedback with 0.32 to be sure that all is ok for all systems....

And I don't know the offical P3D key name in Windows register (for FSX, this is "SOFTWARE\Microsoft\microsoft games\flight simulator\10.0").

I need the name of this Windows key to get the P3D installation folder.

And I need to know the folder names used by P3D for flight plans, dll.xml, and Airplanes.

If a P3D user can give me this information, Setup will work with P3D.

Please not in C:\ in the future, more prefered to make a dll.xml backup copy in the same folder named e.g dll.xml-FDDFMC or so.

.....Maybe one installation step before is missing? Here 5 steps to install and activate the xmltools.dll for FSX:

1. locate the xmltools.dll file in the FSX root folder

2. make a backup copy from the existing dll.xml file for security reasons

3. declaration as described in Francois´installation manual:
To declare XMLTools.dll, open the existing dll.xml file (e.g. w. notepad), copy and paste the section below into the dll.xml file behind the last already existing "</Launch.Addon>" entry:

Not recognizable on my end, if I use the medium texture size option TEXTURE_MAX_LOAD=2048 in the [GRAPHICS] section in the fsx.cfg file.

Aircraft requires Xmltools.dll v2.0 or v2.01. So if you got the FSX message to accept XMLTools, all is ok now .

If you cannot read SID/STAR file, check if "FD_FMC" folder, which contains all airports folders (with only 4 letters ICAO code) is placed at the root of your Main FSX folder.

yes, Xmltools is ok in your Trusted section. Maybe you can do a cleanup, because you have some declaration in double or more (FSUIPC, dsd_fsx_xml_sound ....)

FMC_Path.ini is required only when you save a flight or load a saved flight with the FMC. Path in FMC_Path.ini must be the path to your FSX documetns folder where FSX saves its flight plan, with double "\" for each level of the path and at the end.

THis not the reason why you cannot cat data in the FMC.

Have you check with some different airport ?

The only possibility that I see are :
- Wrong version of XMLTools
- FD_FMC folder is not a right place (in the Main FSX folder) or typo error in the folder name

Check again

Copy a backup file of your current fsx.cfg file. And delete all your [Trusted] section, except XMLTools.dll and Callout_sound.dll and try a flight....

This is the first time that there is this problem....

To zaflyer: Does the FMC now correctly work? If you try to open the SID window do you see a red blinking warning massage "No SID data !" or do you see still a content 0. 0. 0. as shown in one of your previous mails above?

There might be an issue with the installed panel.
In this case I recommend to reinstall the latest "Panel_A320FD-FMC_CFM_beta 1.43" again as follows:

1. go to the FSX/SimObjects/Airplanes/....A320_CFM folder

2. rename=deactivate the current panel folder e.g. "panel.A320CFM" to "panel.A320CFM.OFF"

3. Copy the new "panel.A320CFM" folder from panel version 1.43 into the ....A320_CFM folder

4. make sure that the new Aircraft.cfg and pa320-CFM56-5B4.air files are installed too

5. go to the FSX/Gauges folder and rename=deactivate the previous "A320FD-FMC.CAB" folder to e.g. "A320FD-FMC.CAB.OFF"

Maybe Win 10 has missing some C++ libraries.

Try following :

In the aircraft pack, in the "Modules_Required" folder, you have a folder called "C++ Redistr" --> inside, launch "vcredist_x64.exe"

This is the C++ Microsoft libraries.

Restart your computer and test....

So, I had again a descent bug : Sometimes, when begin descent, Aircraft pitch still frozen (FMC lose the elevator control and pitch stay at the same value, so speed decrease below target speed).
(if the debug gauge is activated in your panel.cfg, you can see in the 2D cockpit the value of the pitch stay at the same value).

So, to cancel the bug, just to pul-push VS and Alt Knobs.

Please, tell me if someone has also this bug....

Hi I haven't see this bug yet. Have you tried to fly with FBW computers on? I normally do.

There is a helpfull answer in the fsdeveloper forum, please read.
Any further declaration from XMLtools submodul in the dll.xml file, e.g. XMLVars, must be removed to avoid a (indirectly) double declaration.
This hopefully solves zaflyer´s prob.

The question is, how the new A320 installer manages any old and compromising submodules in the dll.xml file. Automatic detection and deletion?

hello Zaflyer,

Tom Aguilo, the Xmltools authors give me the solution. You have a declaration of the previous module (XMLVars.dll) in your dll.xml file. You have to remove it, because it can be only one instance of the library !

Delete following line in your dll.xml and delete the line about XMLVars.dll in your [Trusted] section of your fsx.cfg.

I am close to complete the part of code which edit dll.xml.

This "Setup" software will be universal and it will can be use to install any FSX aircraft.(Developer has just to set a "setup.ini" file).

Setup search is current dll.xml file if modules that must be added exist.
if a requiered module doesn't exist in current dll.xml, setup do a backup file called dll.xml_before FD-FMC.xml" and setup add only the missing modules in new dll.xml file.

Code tested this morning and work perfectly.

But I think that I will add a code to detect XMLVars.dll and delete the section if it exists.

Hi Francois, does the universal installer install the PA320_CFM_IAE full package including the new panel or "only" the panel and panel related folders for any aircraft?

INstaller will be only for full aircraft install, because this is the only things that is complex for beginers.

Panel update is easy to do and can be set manually.

Just got back. Thanks got your helpful suggestions and I took your colleagues Tom's advice. I removed the reference to the XMLVars.dll as suggested and edited the .cfg (it wasn't there anyway in the 'trusted' section) Sorry to say, still no joy. I'll keep trying.Please pass on my thanks to Tom.
