Just one Q before you have your very well earned 'rest.' The VC on the aircraft appear a little blurred, more so than other aircraft I'm using. I seem to recall that there was a 'fix' or update for this..or am imagining it? :)
Thanks
ZA
Blurry night textures only appear with this last version. Previous versions looked crisp. I might try what you guys are suggesting to fix the issue.

Francois, the A318 works very well. It's the only one that I've tested so far, although I already downloaded them all. :D
Hi, please check your Anisotropic Filter in your videocard control panel. Put it as higher as possible (16x). Or check in Fsx settings your "filtering" in graphic tab: put Anisotropic and tell us if you can see a difference.

Wulf has prepared a CokiBH texture set in 2048. The loss of quality is minimal. downsize file is from 10 Mo to 2,7 Mo.

I placed at the bottom of the Freenav website the link to download this set.

So, guys who have issue with the HD version 4096, try this set : http://freenavdbgroup.com/?page_id=159

Thanks Francois and Wulf...
Looks fine..
Where do I find the Anisotropic Filter in your videocard control panel please?

Out of interest. I've been trying to use NVIDIA Inspector..But I keep getting a 7316 Error. It worked before I had my re-build. I'm currently using: NVIDIA Ge Force 7600 GS..I can't seem to get Direct X either...Slightly off topic I know..But it will enhance my AB experience..now I'm messing with graphics... :/
Best Wishes

Hi, I have Nvidia too. Right click somewhere on your desktop. You should get a menù. Select Nvidia control panel. Select your software (MS Fsx in this case). In the bottom window just find the "anisotropic filter" setting and select 16x. However you can do that by Nvidia Inspector.

BUT before doing this, jusy go into your fsx graphic settings and check if "Anisotropic" is selected. If not, select it and see if blurries go away

Some user report to me a small error that I did in the A321 pack :

IAE version have some missings :

error #1 : A321 IAE wrong VC
The VC model file is not the right. Because I recompiled the A320 VC to move it forward, to get the right poiont of view when you are in the VC.
This VC is called : Airbus_A321_Int_Mod.mdl. So in the IAE version, this the A320 VC that is used. So if you use A321 IAE, you will get this :
Image if you turn the head !

So please, copy the Airbus_A321_Int_Mod.mdl located in the A321 "Model.cfm" folder in the A321 "model.iae" folder.
Then edit the model.cfg file of the model.IAE version and replace current text by :

[models]
normal=A321_200_IAE_WV
//interior=Airbus_A321_interior_FD
interior=Airbus_A321_Int_Mod.mdl

Error #2 : Wrong Airline declaration for A321 Lufthansa
Edit the Aircraft.cfg file of the A321 IAE and in the [fltsim.xx] section of the Lufthansa livery, change the ATC_parking_codes from DHL to DLH

Error #3 : missing VC texture in A321 IAE Lufthansa livery
- ocpy the file "texture.cfg" that you can found in any livery of the aircraft in the "Texture.dlh" folder, to get the path to the "texture" folder which include common aircraft textures and VC textures.

Small improvement : Too low fuel consumption for some models
A321 (CFM and IAE) has a too low fuel consumption (not realisitic for a long fight. So, edit aircraft.cfg file of each version (CFM and IAE) and go in the [TurbineEngineData] section and set ThrustSpecificFuelConsumption to 0.50 (current value is 0.45).
I am checking other models.

Sorry for the mistakes....

BUT before doing this, jusy go into your fsx graphic settings and check if "Anisotropic" is selected. If not, select it and see if blurries go away

Hi..Prosdocimo The NV Control panel wouldn't show up on my screen (seems I'm not the only one this happens to) I do have the filter set as advised. I'm having problems with NV Inspector anyway...(see earlier post) Things seem to be OK on the VC texture front anyway now..Thanks to the recent updates.

error #1 : A321 IAE wrong VC
The VC model file is not the right. Because I recompiled the A320 VC to move it forward, to get the right poiont of view when you are in the VC.
This VC is called : Airbus_A321_Int_Mod.mdl. So in the IAE version, this the A320 VC that is used. So if you use A321 IAE, you will get this :
Image if you turn the head !

So please, copy the Airbus_A321_Int_Mod.mdl located in the A321 "Model.cfm" folder in the A321 "model.iae" folder.
Then edit the model.cfg file of the model.IAE version and replace current text by :

//interior=Airbus_A321_interior_FD
interior=Airbus_A321_Int_Mod.mdl

HI Francois

I recommend you to fix these problems and upload again a321 because not everyone who download your planes do not visit this forum.
That was in my case before I find way to contact you.I just go to FREENAVDB page and download plane without seeing this chat ever!!

yes, you are right. A new error discovered : A321 CFM version has only a sound.cfg in its Sound folder, so if you haven't install A320 CFM, you have no sound !

You have some problem with your throttle joystick. Potentiometers have "noise" and occurs issues. Try to move a little your throttle when problem appears or clean potentiometer with dedicated cleaner.

No. I wait user advices :D

I propose, from the most simple to the most complex to adapt FD-FMC:

Most simple : A330 - A350
- They are Airbus and they are 2 engines so, minimum work for me.
Same VC can be use, or I can use Tom Ruth's VC (that prepare future A380/A340 as Tom Ruth's VC exist in 4 engines verison).

less simple :
A340 - A380 : they are Airbus, but 4 engines (some codes to change): VC problem : I know only the Tom Ruth VC for 4 engines

most complex :
B737 -> Boeing : Many code to change because gauges are different and logical is different: VC problem : Can use the B737 FSX fefault VC (I think that I can activate more switches and buttons like I did with the A321 VC.
- B777 -> The posky exterior model (beautiful) but no VC (it has a FS9 VC) so requires to use B737 VC
- B747 -> The posky exterior (B747-400 and B747-8F). Alejandro Rojas has improved the B747 FSX VC with new swithcs activated...) but the most complex, because all design gauges to work and new FMC code because Boeing logical est du Boeing, and 4 engines.

others :
- Small jet like Falcon 50 or bombardier. But I need a VC and I don't know if there is a good VC ?
- I like the BAE 146. But I don't know if there is a FSX model with a VC....

All people can say his advice or other aircraft.

I will choose the one with the more people....

I made a small video in HD of a landing at LPMA, Madeira with the A321. After 4 years to code, I need many training to landing :P :laugh: :D

Many thanks for the quick reply.
I note your comments, but I have the same problem when I use the mouse to move the actual throttles without touching the joystick throttle control.
Does that make sense ?

OK
If you start Boeing planes it will last longer and complicated to do.
If you start Airbus it will be shorter and simplier project.

If you want Airbus then do A350 that is my advice.
It's more modern plane and more beautiful.

The A330 from T Ruth is a well done aircraft model and comes with a VC, which includes interesting features, e.g. selectable wipers, switchable panel lights, sun-blind. But some VC improvements might be necessary here e.g. new VC textures, toggle and switch sounds and improved switch texture.... and hopefully the raindrop feature is adoptable from the A32X to this A330.

Agree but if i start texturing it will be long project.Hardest thing are placing textures right and align.I was looked at textures and they are not that simple to do but they can be done about week ,week and half every day work.

And if you people want textures for thomas ruth VC please write in which color you want VC or you want A321 type one I done.

The same colour in which you made the textures for the A321 cockpit should be nice.

Here's my 2c worth..I think you should stick with AB...Basically, because this is a the specialisation of this site..another reason is, that there are quite a few B777/737's out there. The A350..would be good. Either way..What ever comes out, it will be excellent.

I looked at cockpit of thomas ruth a330 VC.
Its almost impossible to do it in HD textures. Autopilot and panels next to it are possible and they are looking good but others panels are not that good and it will be hard to do if I start making. Roof,floor and sides are bad too.Overhead panel is good and it can be done.
Main panel is bad because it is from minimum 5 pieces.It will be very,very hard to blend textures.

I do not recommend to use thomas ruth VC for next project if you count on HD textures.I can do HD on some parts of plane but it will be 50% of A321 cockpit.

Is there any other cockpit for airbus? Can you use a380 VC to add it in a350?

There is a A350-900 XWB freeware full pack from FSPainter combined with T Ruth´s VC again. The aircraft model is excellent and DX10 compatible. I did not find after bit googling any further freeware A330/A350 VC.

BTW I second ZAflyers argument to stick with an Airbus airliner because of the specialisation.

CokiBH@, there is an unwritten rule: Any development duration and time(line) is only defined by the creator/designer himself, not from anyone else.

What ever!I will do my best to do Thomas Ruth VC but it will not be even close to A321 VC that I done.
TR VC is very bad at some parts. TR VC use few same textures for same parts. If I do some part right other will be mess.
For me floor and side pedestal is worst.

Thanks I tried it, and is a very good model. In my opinion it could be improved by adding FD's FMC and CokiBH' HD VC.

It could be challenging for flight dynamics tuning as well. FD could put code lines to create slats/flap adapting configurations during cruise (if possible but i guess so)

First of all, many thanks for this excellent set of freeware planes.

There are a few things to make it more realistic:

-The autothrottle should stay in managed mode until touchdown. When you get within 30nmi of the runway, the plane will go into approach mode, slow to slats speed, then once you select slats, it will slow to F1 speed and so on until you select F4, then it will go to vref for landing.
-The plane needs to be more aggressive in slowing to 250 knots at 10000 feet.
-I dont think the GPS/NAV switch is needed, pressing loc/App should be the NAV switch and pressing managed heading should be the GPS switch.
-Is there any chance of the LVARS/FSUIPC buttons being released so the AP can easily be mapped to hardware?

As for the next plane. the a330 makes sense. Could you not just merge the a32x cockpit with the Tom Ruth plane rather than trying to fix up the old incredibly low res old version? Then the a340 and finally a380 would make sense if you could get the 4 engine model working on the a32x cockpit.

The a350 would be great but it is too hard even for professional developers.

The adaption from the current A32X VC to the A330 or A350 will be the most simple and quickest solution as stated in one mail from Francois on the top of this page, because all recently included modifications and bugfixes in the VC model will be simply adapted. But I wonder if this would be a real step forward, because the sim user is sitting in the same Cockpit again and the major difference will be the different flight dynamics&behavior, which will be partly managed and compensated by the semi-automated panel again. Now one can say: Yes, this is Airbus´philosophy to get common cockpits and similar behaviour for all models.....I doubt if it is really worth to adapt a panel and to "paste" another aircraft model below.

Yes you are right.Same and same cockpit again only diferent is aircraft behaviour.I most time fly in cockpit i do not fly outside to much or never ,so same cockpit ,switches ,buttons ..... will shut down wish for fly.a321 vc is minimal in 3d ,its quite boring.I started making thomas ruth VC in HD so we will how it will turn out.

I hope Francois will chose a350

-No, it shouldn't. You always have the option to have A/T in managed or in selected mode. Sometimes you may need to take control of the aircraft yourself, sometimes you can let the A/P and A/T control the plane.
-Well, I can't speak about that, because either the coded STAR slows the aircraft, or I'll do it myself.
-The switch is needed. It is on the real A320 for a reason.
-I have nothing to say about this, neither good nor bad.

It seems that A330 and A350 have the preference. I agree

I think that Tom ruth's VC is also a good idea. This VC will bring a "new flying space" and I think that it has larger display area.

And when panel will be adapted to TR's VC, it will be easy to go to the 4 engines A340/A380.

So, first step , I adapt panel to this VC.--gauge placement

Second step, I adapt gauge to new Aircrat (A350 or A330)

FLyer10, I haven't enough knoledge to improve the drag of the aircraft. I tried, without success....too complex for me and I don't found clear documentation about these AIR file tables.

The dimensions would change so what would be easier, trying to update a 10 year old Ruth cockpit or transplanting the great a32x cockpit?

Heres an a350 cockpit

I dont believe it can be done although I hope Im wrong.

I think it would be great to be able to assign the push/pull commands of the autopilot to hardware autopilots.

Even something like key commands would be great, eg ctrl - shift u for heading, ctrl shift Y for managed heading.

As for the drag, that can be modified in the aircraft.cfg but it seems fine for other aspects. Can you not make it level off for ten more seconds before descending under 10000 feet?

Thats the real world procedure. It stays on from take off until the retard call out unless theres a serious problem.

FDD, I forgot one other thing for manual landings and I dont know if it can be done, at 50 feet the plane effectively goes into direct law for the landing so the pilot can flare without the FBW getting in the way.

1.What you do not like in my HD textures for a321 VC,

2.What you want to see different,

3.Are color combination good,

4.Are night lights good,

5.Are shadows good,

I was thinking to add wear and tear to cockpit and some color change what you think about that???

"It's important to get your head around what happens at 50ft on the Airbus. The aircraft enters its flare law, auto-trim ceases and the system memorises your pitch attitude. "
Default FSX airbus already switches to direct control below 100ft. You can notice this in FDD's as well. I normally fly with all flight computers on and below 100ft i have a direct input control from my joystick.

Ive never noticed this in the FDD version. There seemed to be the 1 second delay like it was still in normal instead of direct mode.
I had to switch to direct law at 2000 feet agl to be able to land normally.

I did notice the default A321 do a nasty nosedive when the AP was switched off as the trim went to zero instead of maintaining the current level.

1.What you do not like in my HD textures for a321 VC,

2.What you want to see different,

3.Are color combination good,

4.Are night lights good,

5.Are shadows good,

I was thinking to add wear and tear to cockpit and some color change what you think about that???

Overall the cockpit is great. I realise the below is more to do with the model rather than textures, literally the only thing I think could be improved with the textures was the cstr wpt vor ndb aprt buttons, maybe the other FCU buttons as well.

1 - The Nav/gps switch should be removed and also the course. I know both have been talked about. The ignition switch doesnt work in 3d view, neither does the main x bleed switch. Also the flaps level is slightly out of position in 3d view, it doesnt match the 2d popup.

2 - The terrain switch could be moved from the current clickspot to the correct button. I know this has been talked about too.

3 - Yes, its fine

4 - Yes, very good, I especially like the white lights.

5 - Yes, fine

I prefer the new cockpit look but giving people the option is great. Colours are fine as long as they match the real thing.

Hi CokiBH...Here's my response...
1 = They're good..simple.
2=Nothing I can think of
3=Seem OK..I do prefer a darker grey though..But that depends on the realism..if the real flight deck is the colour we have..then fine.
4=Yep
5=They're fine
The wear and tear bit..I like a bit of 'rough' to be honest.. ;-) I'm nor keen on pristine flight decks or aircraft exteriors...that's my personal preference though. Sometimes the AB panels can look a bit 'plastic' that's not a criticism..I think it's how they're built.
Thanks for your good work..

One observation about the A350..All that glass!! I'm no expert..but will it be possible to recreate it and have it all working? Looks like it could be a lot of work!
Thanks ZA

Exactly, I think most people would prefer a realistic a340 than an a350 with an a330 cockpit.

Agreed...In fact, I've been trying to use the A340...and with all due respect to it's author. (TR)..it needs an update.
