Ive flown the TR A330, A340 and A380 and they all fly great but as you say, its looking very tired as the cockpit is very bad when compared to this version. In fact the current cockpit of the FD version is what made me mothball them.

Happy new year to all
A big thanks to François and to those who helped in creating the best free airbus for fsx!
I think the next project should be a B737, a 330 or 340 it will be almost the same experience with a little different cockpit.
I know this means a lot more work but I think you are the only one that you can manage such a project and create the best free B737.

Overall the cockpit is great. I realise the below is more to do with the model rather than textures, literally the only thing I think could be improved with the textures was the cstr wpt vor ndb aprt buttons, maybe the other FCU buttons as well.

1 - The Nav/gps switch should be removed and also the course. I know both have been talked about. The ignition switch doesnt work in 3d view, neither does the main x bleed switch. Also the flaps level is slightly out of position in 3d view, it doesnt match the 2d popup.

2 - The terrain switch could be moved from the current clickspot to the correct button. I know this has been talked about too.
IN FSX world, there is a rare thing : Virtual Cokpit

In freeware world, many guys create aircrafts, but nobody works on VC. Build a VC seems very complex. So we must do with what we have .... ;)

I have no knowledge to use GMax to build a VC, however, I dream to do.... :@

VC used in FD-FMC aircraft is based on the FSX A321, because this is the VC which have the most swith/button that can be activated. But by default, it use very low resolution texture.
With my panel, I extended the display size X 2 (476 x 476 pixels) . They are clean when they are displayed popup, but in the VC, location is small : 282 x 282 pixels. And it is impossible to change that. Only the VC creator (Microsoft) can do something because he has the source file of the 3D model.

So, surprising that X-bleed and IGN switch doesn't work. At home, they works ( with whell mouse)

So, understand that is it impossible to change or add click spot area in a VC. Some experts can do it, but with many works. Exemple, the Flaps lever animation has 4 position in the microsoft VC, and animation cannot be changed.
When designer create a VC, he plans where there will be mouse area, animation, or area for displaying a gauge. When model is compiled in .MDL, nothing can be change, and if you want to place a gauge or a click spot at an unexpected place, that will not work.

For buttons texture, Microsoft default that I used are very small so low resolution. I will try to redraw a button to see if it is possible to use a larger bitmap, but I am not sure that works, and the size of VC area to draw the bitmap cannot be changed ...

So, this porject was to build a gauge set and a FMC management. I spent 4 years to arrive at this final panel. So I cannot do all alone. I know XML coding, not 3D modeling.

We have made the maximum with this VC and it is difficult to do more.

If someone read these lines and has the knowledge to build a totally new VC, with all switchs working, I will can code all function.

Thank you for explaining everything.
The VC x bleed used to work for me but the ignition only ever worked with the 2d popup.

It makes sense that you use the current TR VC if you cant change anything as the a340/a880 already have the four throttles, it just needs a serious texture upgrade and the FMC coding.

Hi
Recently installed the A-321 into the latest version of Prepar3D. The airplane flies beautifully but while the FMC displays the map and route accurately nothing else works. I believe that all the installation steps have been followed correctly. I have tried re-installing with the installer but despite anything I have tried the FMC remains the same. Only clue may be that after "declaring" the XMl files and starting Prepar3D a message box regarding the new files has not appeared. I use Windows 10. The other aircraft I have work well including a Just Flight machine with a limited FMC.
Also I have not found the file FMC_Path.ini in any of the downloads.
Advice or suggestions appreciated.
Thanks

Hi again all
I did another re-installation and now have found the FMC_Path.ini file but no functioning FMC - just the flight plan track line and map.
Thanks

Hi aspen31
I had a similar problem. Nothing to do with the package..just how it's installed. (not being critical BTW) If you go back to pp 36-37 here...You'll find how Wulf and Francois helped me. It might help you with your issue..might not..but it's worth a try. I'm 'ZApilo't BTW in the thread..Hope it helps.

Hi
Thanks. I'll give it a good look as soon as I can. In this case my airmanship is (on slightly) better than my computer skills so I'm sure it's something I've done, or not done - finding it to date has been a challenge.

Hi François, if i select "plan" (by knob) to have it in MFD display, TOD value is superimposed to DIST value in the left bottom corner.

Hi Warren (Aspen31),
welcome to this forum.

There is a manual installation description in the downloaded installation folder which describes the correct installation and the manual declaration depending on the P3D version, please see especially chap 5. and 8.
If you have P3D V2.2 or later, then you need to install the modulus "XMLTools3D.dll" into the root P3D folder and the modulus "LoggerX.dll" into the P3D/Modules subfolder. You already declared these 2 moduli in the DLL.xml file. But there is no need to declare "XMLTools.dll" in the DLL.xml file and - important - the corresponding modulus "XMLTools.dll" should not be installed into the P3D root folder, if done so.

Please do not hesitate to mail us here any hickups.

Hi
And thanks - seems like a great forum with lots of help. I did a check and all .DLLs seem to be in the correct places and the XMLTools.dll is not present.
I am using the latest version of Prepar3D - 3.4 I think. On start up the sim has not asked any questions about the newly "declared" .DLLs. Could that be an indication that they are being ignored for some reason?
Thanks

Hi
Thanks again. You are very trusting to turn me loose with editing this kind of file but I'll give it a go and see what happens. My next question could very well be how to repair the file.
Cheers

Open the xml.dll file with the MS own editor. Then you are able to edit it as a common text file. Then save the file.
Don´t forget to make a backup of this file at first for security reason.

Hi again
I accomplished the editing. The sim started without errors and the 320 panel looks great with everything working. The FMC unfortunately has not changed. The map with apparently all details shows fine but I can do nothing with the scratchpad to the right of the display. The track line for the flight planned map shows with the departure and destination airports showing as waypoints 1 and 2 but that's all.
Thanks

When you click on SID or STAR button, do you see SID and STAR index list ?

Scratchpad or FMC keyboard works only in Departure and arrival page.

XMLTools is ,nnt correctly installed.

Think that there is 2 versions, according FSX or P3D used :

FSX and old P3D version (before 2.4 I think) requires : XMLTools.dll only

P3D 2.4 and upper requires 2 files
- XMLTools3D.dll that is a special version for P3D
- LoggerX.dll (that must be placed in the \Modules\ folder.

- Check if you have XMLTools3D.dll in your main P3D folder
- Check if you have a subfolder called "Modules", with LoggerX.dll inside
- repost here your DLL.XML file content
- post here the [Trusted] section of you "FSX.CFG" file (I don't know the equivalent name for P3D....)

Guys,

about next project, I began to adapt A321 panel to Tom Ruth's VC, before begin to write a full set of gauge for A330/A350/A380.

So, after some hours of work, I am close to get all gauge working and at the right place in the TR's VC.

I remain some issue : Barometric knob does'nt work in VC; I search but it seems that this is a VC bug. Can you confirm to me ?

I have also some night lighting issue, because it seems that there is a hard coded system light in the VC......

But I hope post today, if someone want test, A321 panel with Tom Ruth VC.

about next project, I began to adapt A321 panel to Tom Ruth's VC, before begin to write a full set of gauge for A330/A350/A380.

Francois
Theres several problems with it:
The co pilots display is not reversed.
The ignition only works in VC, not the 2d panel.
The x bleed switch is different 2d=auto-shut-apu-eng. VC=shut-auto-apu-eng
The autobrake and antiskid doesnt work in VC
The baro doesnt work in VC

Id be happy to test as Im familiar with the old A330.

I have XMLTools3D.dll in the main Prepar3D directory and LoggerX.dll in the module folder along with FSUIPC.
Several previous proposed corrections into the DLL.xml file have not been included properly !
I propose that you adopt the below corrected content and paste it into a new DLL.xml file.
Don´t forget to retain a backup from this file again before modification.

Please give us feedback if the sim works fine afterwards...

The x bleed switch is different 2d=auto-shut-apu-eng. VC=shut-auto-apu-eng VC texture must be fixed. I will prepare with Gray set that I found
The autobrake and antiskid doesnt work in VC Fixed. Works now
The baro doesnt work in VC no solution at this time (VC model bug)

I am preparing a pack....but I complete before the airport database update....

ok, I prepared a very light aircraft pack with the Tom Ruth VC.

This is a A321CFM ; I called the folded PATR A321FD-FMC.

This pack include Tom Ruth VC that I fixed about MFD scale knob (about the PLN position).
Some gauge and Panel.cfg file is specific to Tom Ruth VC; Don't use with the microsoft VC. I changed the name of the Panel folder to avoid errors.
Pack has no Sound folder : copy a "Sound.CFM" folder of any A32x FD-FMC CFM aircraft.
I edited Aircraft.cfg file about the VC viewpoint but not perfect.
only one livrery include.

It is just for test, to know if everybody is ok to use this VC for next aircraft (2 and 4 engines).

VC texture should be modified about the X-bleed wrong readings.

The main issue is the barometric that doesn't work in the VC.

Its a bit late to take it out for a spin so Ill report back later.

Autobrake works, but button have a problem of light.

Think that when aircraft is on the ground, only last autobrake positon can be selected (RTO).

Francois what you want to do now?
Do you want just to try TR vc with your aircraft a321 then do a330 if all is right?

Hi this also happens in your previous VC (at least, in my FSX). I think is good.

Dirty textures are finished and I sent link to Francois.
If he upload them it's good but if not for some reason send me PM and I will give you link of textures.

Hi Francois
The FMC is proving to work very well although I have not figured everything out.
I'm sure this has been pointed out before but in my setup the console ignition switch in the VC will not turn although it will "highlight" with the mouse. I must use the "throttle" view and there the dial turns operates correctly and the VC dial turns with it.
Thanks for the great work.

Did you provide the link from this optional texture set with the sizes 2048 and 4096?

The overhead recognition switch does not work in the OH 2D panel, but it is integrated and works in the dome light switch in the VC.

The320Pilot wrote:Francois, I think I had an issue with the A318. After landing and vacating the runway on my first test flight, look at the MCP: the HDG numbers are missing. Also, the V/S display is missing two zeroes, although when I took off all of them were present (as far as I remember); they disappeared during descent. I was initially descending in managed mode but then I used manual V/S and that's when the zeroes were gone.

I never had this issue !! and nobody report to me this phenomenon !!! very strange !!!

When a bug appears during a flight, Think to save you flight (names your savegame file ICAO to ICAO); When you save a flight, FD-FMC create a backup file of its data and flight setting in a CSV file called like the flight plan file with ".....FMS dataSave.csv" at the end of the name.
This file is saved in the Flight plan files folder (C:\Documents and Settings\Username\My documents\Flight Simulator X Files) depend of your Windows version....

Repeated the flight (although in daytime), and I must say that now the HDG display problem didn't appear. I'm now very happy with the A318. I'll install the rest of the fleet (A319, A320, A321) shortly. Excellent job!

P. S.: I have sent you an zip file with the updated FMC files for SKBO. Some SID changed names.

Hello carlos,

I have no idea about your HDG reading bug. I had in the past, in rare case, similar issue, but with PFD/FMA reading.....never found the origin...
