My 737
Re: My 737
Hey Andrew, lately I saw the flap load relief gauge. It is a kind of simple system right?
Will it include similar gauges this beauty?

Re: My 737
Provided I remember to include it then that same gauge in the panel, It just XML gauge that when X speed is crossed, it force retracts the flaps and prevents rextending until below that speed.

Hi, first post here...
Anyways, I'm curious to know what program you use for designing models like this. Is it the Abacus Design Studio, or something else? Please let me know.
cheers,
Bill

I would say 90% of us in the community use GMAX (or 3D Studio Max for some FSX designer) with the remaining using FSDS though IIRC GMAX is far more powerful in what you can do.

Time for a face lift
Didnt like the curves above the cockpit so I decided to remake the area around the cockpit windows and then make the area under the cockpit and then behind it to make it nicer and more accurate.
Old Nose for comparison

Yep, sometimes it's so much better to begin something from scratch.

Well, the fuse is still there, just hidden in order to reduce clutter

Re: My 737
two questions for you as im in the same stance as you on a Cessna project. I have two many polys cut and it ruined the shape so i need to make them have into normal polys.
1) did you just delete them and then replace them?
2) how did you replace the polygons you deleted?
im able to delete but havent figured out how to add new polygons back in though...

Re: My 737
What I do is create verticies, place them in spot loosely. Then using the create face tool in the side menu, create faces connecting the vertecies. After making them adjust as nessesary to reduce/eliminate the smoothing issues and make it look smooth.

Re: My 737
How did you get the textures to look so clear in gmax on the first page of pictures?
Yay! My first post!

Re: My 737
Used good texture resolution and set the GMAX driver to display the best quality

Love the face-lift. Coming on to be a good-looking B737
Re: My 737
Ah, the fantastic runway 4R visual approach into KMDW. I'm glad to see someone with class!
Our VA flies 737's in and out of KMDW all day long, a fantastic plane to fly (Better than an Airbus ).
Let's hope we can grab the stick soon and take that bird on a flight!

Re: My 737
If I may say something Andrew, the only little bit of criticism I have is that the alphas maybe have to be pushed up a bit on the fuselage, engines and winglets for a bit more shine. Otherwise I can't fault the rest.
Re: My 737
New Feature - Wing Vortex Generators (its those pink specs)
Taxi in at KPHX
Model is almost done, just have to add pilots in the cockpit and add the large engine vortex generator
Re: My 737
Congrats Andy. Keep it up mate. Hope that it will eventually include a decent VC, because the one previewed looks great

Re: My 737
Somewhere between Dec, 2010 and Dec, 2943
We dont give release dates as things are always changing, but I can say is that if this project was a flight, then we have began the initial decent.

Re: My 737
Update: Due to commitments the model was slow to progress but now I have been able to work on it some more, here are some screenshot from the last week or two
And a comparison between FSX and FS9 in graphics
FSX
FS9
Practially the model is now done and we are in the debugging. We anticipate it being released in the next one to two months but note, this is subject to change.

Re: My 737
Realy nice done, great job. I like the details in your work.
Re: My 737
That's not really a fair comparison, though, is it?
Re: My 737
Andy didn't quite explain the comparison properly, what the screenshots are mean't to represent is not FSX vs FS9 in all respects, but simply our 737 and how much of a difference the FSX and FS9 version has. The model is the same except one is FS9 native and the other is FSX native w/ a the extra features that FSX allows. The livery was exactly the same apart from the resolution which was reduced to 1024x1024 for FS9. I explained it a little better here.esg wrote:That's not really a fair comparison, though, is it?
On a side note, glad to finally be part of the PA forums, I've been meaning to sign up for a while now - finally got round to it!
