good news everyone!

I finished my model (well, almost, I only gotta model some spoiler details, and the windscreen wipers.)

Image

Ofcourse I gotta mirror everything, but I got no time for that right now. next is texturing and rigging :D

Sorry FLYPHOENIX I've just been glued to this for ages now and it was the first thing that came to mind, but I've personally researched and looked at photos of real and other FS made A343 models for hours and this model is actually quite simply GREAT! The model It's just so smooth and OMG so deatiled on a whole new level, attempts have been made but I don't think they make it to this standard. And other creaters just havn't made it as smooth as this, and the SWISS texture looks fantastic as well really cant wait for this. And sorry if I asked that question it's just that someone either here or on the projectopensky forums said it wont be for FS so I was just clarifying, but I'll ask politely could someone please fill me in as to wheather this is for FS or not thank you. :)

No. Morhaf has been doing this purely for a private commitment so this model that you see here is not for FS.

That said, once he has completed all he has to do with this model, he plans to do one for FS. Further details of which will be divulged later in good time.

First of all, woww  thank YOU :D

second, to elaborate on sheldon's reply, I'm afraid the shape of the wing is not right, as I've probably used an unreliable source picture for it, which doesn't fit any other pics I used, so when I'm done with this video I'm making, I'll have to correct the whole wing, and if I want to make is compatible with FS, I gotta adjust and remodel some things (note: one pivot tube takes around 60 poly's :o ) but that might be a while before I get into that.

again, thanks a lot.

now lets find out how to make some wingflex and vaporization on the wings, shall we

well last night, when I posted the render, it was quite late, and my dad told me to stop (I kinda got scared) so I saved the file, but before c4d closed, I pulled out the adapter from my laptop (it doesnt have a battery) and when I reopened c4d this morning, my file didnt open :(

there was an error, saying: Incorrect file structure

so Im affraid I broke my a340

its okay now, I saved it by merging an old vesion with the new (frozen) one, and its in maya now, so I just mirrored everything in 5 seconds instead of 50 minutes.
also I quickly put on the texture to see how it works:

probably last w.i.p. shot of the nose texture, cuz its almost done!

Image

went pretty quick I must say! only the dirt took some time to get right.. cant wait to do the rest of the fuselage :(

Re: A340-300 project

Posted: 25 Nov 2010, 22:37
by Morhaf
Mid-fuselage texture!! :) The only problem is that the quality is a little lower than the nose, cuz the fuselage is longer, so the map has to be bigger, but its not as big as the nose (in height of the fuselage) ... here's what I mean, if I lost you

Image

havent worked on the partion lines though, and there are some windows missing in the back

process will most likely slow down a bit, since I just reinstalled my system, and I have to get a program working (which was the reason I reinstalled my computer, but it didn't work  ) and then work with it a little bit.

-Installing Photoshop again now.

EDIT: photoshop installed, texturing process continues.

ofcourse it will, your *new models* wing specifically looks just awesome :D If only my wing would look like as good as that!

_

meanwhile, I lost my file again :x I saved it with maya student version, and the files can only be opened with THAT maya, on THAT system.

So I gotta remap the thing, re-mirror all those things, replace some things, rescale the fuselage parts, and its back to where it was.

so, process wil be slow again. :(

thank you ;)

okay, so I got the model together again, and I made some little changes to the model iself too:

- the wingroot is much smoother and the curve is about the right shape of the real thing
- the shape of the inboard-flap (the curve) is smoother.
- Nose, mid-fuse, rear-fuse sections are rescaled so they are about the same size on the uvmaps
- nose section is textured ON BOTH SIDES, only a few things need to be corrected (think partion lines, anti-distortion scaling)

Image

Only thing I found out when I put on the texture, is that I can't export anything from maya student version, so I will need to re-model those changes in cinema4d when I have it.

cheers

I just finished the basic textures for the mid & rear fuselage, but apparently the file is too big, cuz maya just freezes, like in freezing..

probably because the file is 6k

might size it down to 5k or something.
