New textures issue

Post by CaptainBootys » 19 Mar 2011, 00:16

Hello, I have noticed that they feature third party paints on the download page here on pairbus.com, so I guess it's ok for me to ask this question here, I downloaded a third party paint and I've tried to install it the project pairbus A380 folder as it says to do so,but when it came to copying the lines, (again I'm following the instructions) in the aircraft.cfg file I became a bit lost, I have managed to open it with one or two programmes and see details in their but my question is what program am I meant to use please so I can get the A380 working in FSX with the new texture, I guess what I'm really saying is I need some more detailed instructions of how to do this successfully please?.

I would be very grateful if someone can help me with this

Thanks

Andy

Thank you very much for your reply, I have actually opened it in something similar to wordpad I have opened it in notepad before, but now I'm using wordpad to open the aircraft.cfg file like you said to :-).Hehe you see the problem I'm still facing is I can't seem to

still get the texture working in FSX,obviously I'm doing something wrong lol, for instance I have tried deleting for example the Emirates texture and also deleting the Emirates texture information under the aircraft.cfg file. And then replacing the texture folder with a new one
for what ever livery it may be, and also replacing the lines in the aircraft.cfg file. I mean I don't know whether to just add the lines to the existing aircraft

already there or not lol, and whether the lines need putting in a particular place I just don't know, I'm sorry I must sound very new to this but honestly I am, I just need some more detailed instructions of how to do this successfully please :-)

Thanks again for your reply

Andy

As long as u have the texture folder in the correct aircraft folder.....then making sure u have added the correct info into the aircraft.cfg
Important that u have the [fltsim.0] in proper order for each texture u r using 0,1,2,3,etc. If u r using different panel or sounds make sure they are reflected in the cfg. Example of this is, in mine I use the thomas ruth 340 panel.....if I didnt tell the aircraft.cfg to use that 340 panel then your aircraft wouldnt show up

Hope this helps u ;)
example:

Code: Select all

Once again thank you very much for helping me out,Yes you have been a great help, I now have some more lovely textures working in FSX :-), I think I was thinking too hard about it about how all this works hehe, I think I understand now lol so now I think I will be able to experiment a little more. Thank you very much for the information, and for the example, as I say you've been a great help :-). I have a few A380s with a A340 virtual cockpit which I downloaded, it's nice to be able to use that to :-).

Thanks again

Andy
