A321 Installer and Tail Light Problems

Post by Movieman162 »

Hi, first a congratulations is in order, the A321 is visually stunning and preforms like a winner. Now everything is great but i have two problems.

First is the installer, i extract the zip to my sim objects file, find the PA installer in either of the two A321 folders, run it but it keeps flashing error. When i try run as admin it just flashes on and off. I am on Windows 7 64bit PRO.

Second is the in game textures. Only one side of the rudders logo lights illuminated (the left side only).

That's very strange I think there was another report of the installer flashing or reporting an error. I have windows 7 32bit here and it works fine, so I'm not quite sure what the problem could be. Does it give you a specific error message that could help find the issue? Also what's the directory path your FSX is installed to?

Like i said i cannot make out anything other than error because it flashes so much. My FSX directory is under the C: Program files (x86) as normal. Might this be a case of 32bit v 64bit?

Ive never heard of 64 vs 32 bit causing an issue for a simple batch file but I guess I could be wrong. I'm suspecting more along the lines of windows 7 protecting the program files folder against modifications. Try copying the project airbus a321-211 aircraft folder somewhere else (the desktop for example) and running the script then.

I have the same issue with the Tail logo light.....only 1 side illuminates. It goes on....then flickers off immediately. Maybe PA should not have used 'no name' bulbs :p :)

Sry forgot to say : fsx 32bit xp :oops:

Hmm tail light
light.7=9, -67.88, 8.99, 18.45, fx_pa380logo
light.8=9, -67.88, -8.99, 18.45, fx_pa380logo
Make sure you have the "fx_pa380logo" effect in the effect folder!

For the FSX issue, this thread might help: http://www.pairbus.com/discussion/viewt ... f=6&t=1125

All effects that came with package were placed in the effects folder....I think this is my 20th PA A/C ;) so I wouldnt forget the effects :geek:

I did notice I had to run that installer a few times for it to do anything :(

Just tried the installer on the desktop and it did indeed work. So what will i have to do know to allow it to work in the program files?

Have you tried right-clicking the batch file and selecting "run as administrator"? That should work in theory.

You need to change the permissions to let the user write to the directory

Right, so I've finally taken the time to take a look... Looks like the last 4 entries are the culprits; just strip them off:

Code: Select all

[lights]
light.0=  3, -77.90,  -0.15,  4.80, fx_navwhih
light.1=  2, -77.90,   0.15,  4.80, fx_strobeh
light.2=  1,   6.80,   0.00, -5.80, fx_beaconh
light.3=  1,   3.83,   0.00,  8.47, fx_beaconh
light.4=  4,  58.00,   0.00,  3.50, fx_vclighth
light.5=  5,  11.57, -10.48, -5.91, fx_PAland
light.6=  5,  11.57,  10.48, -5.91, fx_PAland
light.7=  9, -67.88,   8.99, 18.45, fx_pa380logo
light.8=  9, -67.88,  -8.99, 18.45, fx_pa380logo

In detail instructions—

1- Right-click on your Aircraft/Airplanes folder and select 'Properties'

2- Switch to the 'Security' tab

3- Click 'Edit'

4- Select your usergroup (most likely 'Users')

5- Tick the 'Allow' checkbox for 'Full control' below

Also, make sure the folder is not 'Read-only'

But this worked for me..Not sure if it would work for you guys...Switch all lights on from the Upper pannel..and then on & off the Pannel light from the switch...This worked.
