Hi!
I have tried the new very good looking A320 model in FSX for use with my homecockpit based on AIRSIMTECH airbus software modules. Most important for me is a realistic open climb and descend behaviour, fuel consumption and good landing characteristics.
But on my first flight I noticed that the plane is rather overpowered. So it took less than 10 minutes to reach FL 300 on a 60 t weight. Realistic would be a time of 15 minutes and lower climb rates ( the plane gabe me rates over 4000 to 5000 fpm).
So would it be the right way to lower the value of the static thrust in the aircraft.cfg? Or am I thinking wrong and the behaviour is closer to reality than I suppose?
Best regards for your messages,
Christoph

Re: A320 overpowered?
It might be that when you were flying, gravity was at a special discount of 30% off
Re: A320 overpowered?
Well, I see no other logical explanation.

Re: A320 overpowered?
That's a good joke but I'm really interested in a perfect flight dynamics and would appreciate any help from other users.

Re: A320 overpowered?
Hi, Chris.
Did you find out how to correct the problem? I'm encountering the same rocket-behaviour in my stock PA A320. (57 ton, CLB @ 4500-5500 ft/min).
I'd appreciate if you could tell me.
Thank you,

To find the problem chek from the conf file of the aircraft the follow items:
WEIGHT AND BALANCE
-Empty weight=93918.70
-Max gross weight=171960.61
-Payload=36900 lbs
Jet_engine
thrust_scalar=1.00
TurbineEnginData
-Static_thrust=CFM/25000 IAE/26400
For a normal flight for exemple 600NM with a max payload and a total of fuel of 8500 liters the optimal altitude is FL370.
With that in mide and with those settings you shoud get 37000ft with a maxime rate of climb of 600 to 800 feet per minute.
If not some think is terrible wrong

HI Ratinho.
Thanks for stopping by.
After reviewing my cfg file, both for -214 and -232 models, I realized the values I have aren't that off comparing them to yours. In any case, static thrust floats around 24000-25000. Scalar is set at 1.000 and weight and balance difference lies within the 2-3% range.
Even despite this fact, the plane CLBs at at tremendously high rate: 4500-5500 ft/min.
What thrust do you use when CLB? I read somewhere on the forum that you had to use full thrust during both T/O and CLB phase since N1 is automatically limited.

Re: A320 overpowered?
Well, I climb at N1 set between 82% and 89% and over FL180 my climb rate is around 2000 ft/min. As I get higher, it reduces to around 1700 ft/min.
Re: A320 overpowered?
I'll try to hold N1 within that range and will come back with feedback.
Thanks,
Thanks,
Re: A320 overpowered?
For departure set N1 to 90% ,reducing to 85% when taking off flaps.
After passing FL100 at 250Kts, with Auto pilot on, set speed 300KT and rate 2600fpm.
Decreesing rate of climb as altitude increasing in order to mantain speed 300Kt.
When approching M078, change on auto pilot Kts to Mach.
Allways setting manualy rate of climb in order to mantain M078 until reaching final level.
