Flying A380 on a flightplan

Post by anthonyrm1 » 04 May 2012, 15:09

Hey there

I've just downloaded the A380 VC model and I'm having issues with getting it to follow a flightplan. In other aircraft I use (project opensky, overland etc) I can set the autopilot to fly on the flight plan route created in FS9, I cannot seem to figure out how to do that on the PA A380, am I missing something?

Also, I only have a virtual cockpit, but no panel on usual cockpit view?

Thanks in advance, hope someone can help.

thanks very much. I have found the LS button but even after using the VC manual pdf I cannot seem to locate the Nav Hold button?

2 other things, when changing the heading with the knob on the autopilot it only moves in single increments, i cannot just hold it down like I can speed and altitude to change it, but have to click for every degree change?

Also, how can I set the runway course for the ILS, I've not found the pdf to be very explanatory?

Hope someone can help

Many thanks

Nav hold is under the heading knob... (I haven't flown the A380 in quite a while so i can't remember that much)

As for the changing heading, try the mouse scroll.

the runway course is inputting the frequency into NAV1, but i forogt which one it is in the a380. Do you know where to input radio frequencies though?

Brilliant!!! Thats most of the issues solved now! I've selected LS (which also illuminates the V V butt next to it), and selected the LOC button under the heading knob and it now works. Thanks so much, as does the mouse scrolling with the heading knob.

Now the onyl thing to figure out is how to change the course for the ILS. I know how to put the frequency into NAV1, thats not a problem, but as yet I've not managed to successfully approach. Guess I'll just have to play around with it some more.

Thank you SO much for your help!

I'm quickly coming to the conclusion that I'm either doing something totally wrong or the autopilot on this aircraft is very unreliable when flying in VC. It will not hold an altitude on its own when autopilot is on, it just sinks like a stone. I really wish this was as easy to fly as a project opensky or something similar, it has a mind of its own!

u sure u hv switched to NAV mode (disabling the LOC hold) when u hear the morse code? If u cant even hear the morse code make sure u have activated NAV1.

about the altitude hold... u sure u haven't pressed vertical speed hold instead of ALT hold? or you sure you have a positive V/S when u press ALT hold? also, the autopilot may not be activated even when the button is illuminated. Try Z.

If ALL ELSE fails, give it a thomas ruth a340 panel and fly it from there.
