Hi all,
as the vasFMC is not really reliable, I started to work on a merge of the great plane with the A340 panel of PSS. This is payware, so if you also want to make use of this solution, you need to have a valid license.
I added the 2D panel and replaced the A340VC section with the PA380 VC section. Then I replaced the gauges with the PSS VC gauges within the VC section. In addition you need to change some areas within the aircraft.cfg file. This process is still under process, so I will add more as I learn to fly this combination. Result overall is OK but you need to be aware of some restriction:
1. PFD: I left the systems gauge and the PFD from the PA version within the VC section. So you will need to swith to the 2D panel if you need the specific information from the PFD of the PSS panel set.
2. To program the FMC to get some good flight behaviour when using the FMC you need to cheat the system: I insert the full fuel load and insert the ZFW of the plane to reflect the overall load situation compared to the overall laod of the A380. So if my A380 has 80% of the MTOW, I try to cheat the FMC to get 80% MTOW of the A340
3. The fuel configuration of the A380 is not really recognized. So i have copied the A340 section into the aircraft.cfg and changed the points of contact and the fuel capacity to reflect the A380 capacity. As the A340 has only 3 fuel sections, I modified it somewhat precise. I still need to test this configuration.
4. Overall: I use the 2D panel for flight planning and FMC operation or managed flight. I use the VC for manual steering during taxi, takeoff or landing.
Please let me know your experience with this type of merge.
Best regards
Helmut
