PA A320 Series: Who can I report theft of PA assets to?

Hi forum,

I've recently found and confirmed that a Project Airbus A319/320 model and its textures that has been uploaded into a game called Second Life. The person who ripped it out of FSX claims it as their own build and is selling it within the game for real US$. The virtual world admins won't cease this activity unless the original creator files a complaint against them. I have a deep respect for FSX/FS2004 developers, especially for those in the freeware market, and I'd hate to see this person rob Project Airbus of their hard work.

Who can I contact about this issue?

Thanks for your report. Have they got an online shop or would we need to install the game to confirm this?

For a person to use the aircraft, they would need to install Second Life, make an account, and buy the object from either a user-made vendor in the game or via Second Life's Marketplace website which will deliver the item to the player's inventory. You can view that here: https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/A318/7099666. The player who has taken PA's model is username "Daniels Fall".

I have a few friends who have documented the product by rendering the model's wire frame can comparing it to PA's model. This is just one of the images I have at the moment: http://snag.gy/dw5dR.jpg.
I have personally compared the cockpit in the Second Life product to a FSX virtual cockpit mod made by François Doré for the PA A320 series, in which the wire frame topology matched.

I'm happy to supply more information if needed.

I don't think that's our model, wanaka. Is there something we're missing?

I sure do think something fishy is going on wanaka109 because the virtual cockpit looks exactly like our project airbus a320 virtual cockpit hmm

I'm in the process of getting you some wire frame shots of the fuselage for comparison.

I believe that the uploader may have modified the aircraft a bit to cover his trail. There is a screenshot from another blog of this guy's "work in progress" snapshots. https://malqusition.files.wordpress.com ... =580&h=341. The interior cabin I believe may be original or out of another aircraft.
I have another screenshot of the left main gear. The geometry looks very similar to your model. http://snag.gy/4Y1Fp.jpg

As for the interior of the cockpit; I have some other snapshots here that may help. I remember comparing the geometry of the joystick in the cockpit of the suspected aircraft to your cockpit and it was an exact match.

This guy is renowned for stealing FSX model because the community in Second Life has found Carenado, Wilco, and feelThere aircraft for sale on his Marketplace page as well.

Thanks, I'm glad to of been a help. I'd hate to see your hard work being ripped off by some untalented money-bagger.
If you wish to take action on Daniels Fall, you can file a DMCA claim to Linden Labs. Here are the instructions: https://secondlife.com/corporate/dmca.php. It would be best to mention this link https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/A318/7099666 in your claim as well so that Linden Labs have an idea of what was stolen from you.
If you are successful with your claim, Mr. Fall's account will be suspended while Linden Lab carries out their investigation, stopping him from distributing anymore of your assets. I've heard that it's entirely possible for the Airbus product and your assets to be withdrawn from Second Life's asset servers once your case has been put in action.

If you require more information please let me know.

Hello, my friend was scammed by the SL avatar named Daniels Fall who is stealing mesh designs from someone and selling them on Second Life as his own creations. My friend bought me an airplane as a gift for Christmas a year or more ago, and while flying it today and landing at an airport, I was contacted and informed by the land owner that my plane was stolen mesh. There are some places in SL who are very upset with this person because nobody is doing anything about it. My friend spent real U.S. money on it. And now we are left with stolen property and we are sick about it. I was told today that Daniels Fall, the person who stole the mesh designs, steals all of his designs from FSX, and none of his designs are his. He is making a lot of money, as his planes are everywhere. The casual buyer does not know. Only a few people are aware, and it seems that the Linden Lab folks are not stopping it. You see, he's from Brazil. So when someone files a DMCA claim, he counters it, and it stops because nobody can afford to take him to court. What I want to know is, if he is stealing these designs from FSX, can't Microsoft step in and do something? Is anyone going to do anything about this? He refuses to refund money, and says it's just angry competitors. Well I'm not happy. Someone please respond.

Just happened to stumble across this topic, must say that I'm a little disturbed by the name of the alleged perpetrator...

Btw, hello Demetris! Long time no see!
