Merge Aircraft Tutorial

Post by AntonioK »

Hiya,

First off I'd like to say that I absolutely love the models built. I'm a huge fan of the 'bus, over boeing, and your work captures its essence fantastically. With that said, I'm looking to obtain the full experience with the airbus 320 series. At current, I have PSS Airbus family (18/19/29/21) for FS9, and I love it's panel and I love the flight dynamics. However, the external model isn't well crafted at all.

I'm wondering if someone can point me in the right direction on how to do a successful aircraft merge between your product and PSS Airbus'? I'm a complete novice when it comes to this, so hopefully I don't screw anything up while attempting it.

Any guidance in this quest would be greatly appreciated. :)

Thanks!

Open the panel.cfg and change the alias to point to "PSSABPro/panel"

Hmm, would you mine elaborating? Which panel CFG to open, how to incorporate the other models, etc? Apologies for my ignorance.

Go here: (or wherever you've installed FS9) C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator 9\Airplanes\Project Airbus A380-800 [AIRLINE]\panel. Open the panel.cfg with notepad.

You will see this:

Code: Select all

[fltsim]
alias=B737_400\panel
Replace that with this:

Code: Select all

[fltsim]
alias=PSSABPro\panel
Click save or Ctrl+S.

Now start FS9, choose the PA A380 that you've installed the panel merge into and the PSS panel should show up in FS9.

That should work but not 100% sure. I only have FSX.

EDIT: Whoops! I thought you were talking about the A380. My bad.

So the "[flstim] alias=B737_400\panel" will be the only text in the PA Airbus Panel CFG file? Or is it hidden somewhere in the CFG?

In addition, all I have to do is paste "[fltsim] alias=PSSABPro\panel" and it should exactly mirror the PSS Airbus operations?

Yep. That's all ;)

The 'alias' command in panel.cfg says (to?)* fs to take the PSS one 8-)

So when I open the PANEL CFG file in the PA Airbus that I downloaded from AVSIM (project_airbus_a320_delta.zip), this is what I see:

When I clear it out and put: "[fltsim] alias=PSSABPro\panel" and save it, nothing shows up as the panel in the Sim. I just have to virtual cockpit modes, practically, with no virtual cockpit. Did I do something wrong? Or is there something missing?

In FS9 you can only merge panels.

The merging of virtual cockpits is a FSX feature and requires 2 separate models a Exterior Model and a Interior Model.
