A320 - IAE Wobbly fan textures when running.

Post by Private Custard » 17 Feb 2011, 21:25

I remember having this issue when repainting my Air Jamaica A320, but I was painting the model with the CFM engines. Now I'm painting a Spirit A320 with the IAE engines and am having the same issue. It seems to be haunting me. What's the name of the psd in the A320 paintkit that I need to be painting?

I used the file titled A320_2_IAE_t.psd for the outsides of the engines, and A320_1_t.psd for the tail (which also includes the spinning engine texture). I've had to rename A320_1_t to A320_1_IAE_t otherwise the tail is just black. Is there another file I'm missing which contains the correct spinning engine texture for the IAE units?

Actually, forget me, I'm not thinking straight.

I've pasted some textures from a BA a320 over the top and then manually deleted all of it but the engine part I needed!

Although I am interested to know if there's a psd file for IAE engines..........there has to be, I screwed up like this last time........only the other way round!!

in the A320_1_IAE_T.psd, you should be able to change between the CFM Blades and spinner and the IAE ones.

Here's the problem.

I mistakenly used the one on the right, which flopped about madly inside the IAE unit. So I had to grab a bigger one from a different livery!

EDIT, Ahh, now I see what you mean.........I'm having a brain-slur tonight!

By taking textures from another livery, you are stealing (technically) you really should just use the paintkit.

What you see is not a bigger version of the fan texture, It is a completely different one. One that is specified for the Airbus A320 IAE version.

It's not stealing if I delete everything that was created by another painter.

Thats correct (technically) but in many other senses it can lead to paints being removed from libraries, etc.

And besides whats the point in deleting everything the other painter did when all you have to do is open Photoshop and use the Paintkit.

'The bigger one' is IAE's, and the smaller one CFM's. They're different as is to be expected

There are 2 layers in the tail PSD, 'Engine Fan - CFM High Speed' and 'Engine Fan - IAE High Speed', you just have to hide the CFM layer and make the IAE layer visible
