Alpha channels

Dear community,

I have tried to exporting alpha textures from a aircraft textures using DXTbmp and exporting it as a win bmp. Then importing it using DXTbmp. However, after several tests, the alpha info seemed to be lost. I saved the entire texture in 32bit in DXTbmp.

Also how can I create alpha textures so the aircraft looks as if it has 'shine' to it.

Adobe Photoshop CS6
Paint.NET
DXTBMP
