Thomas A330-PA A321 VC

Post by ricko » 15 May 2011, 05:26

Hi folks,
Just wondering if anybody has merged the Airbus A330 VC of Thomas Ruth with
PA 's new A 321 yet ?
I have tried the default FSX Airbus panel but the night textures look horrible with that.
Any help will be appreciated.

Cheers, Ricko

EDIT: Just reading your first post completely. It seems that I told you how to recreate the opposite: A321's VC with Tom's external model. I have deleted the instructions, filled with shame.
BTW, those instructions are well saved in my HD, so, if anyone wants them, I am more than willing to reupload them.
EDIT2: Now I'm reading your post AND thread's title (making some progresses here). As far as I understand, you are asking for the A330's VC applied to PA's A32X family, but in the title you are talking about the PA A321 VC and Tom's A330. So?
EDIT3: Meh, whatever, someone might need it:
I just managed to merge the Airbus VC and the Thomas Ruth model:
  • Copy the file called Airbus_A321_interior.mdl (that you can find in the Airbus_A321\model folder) into the model.ge, model.pw and model.rr folders.
  • Edit the model.cfg files in each model.* folder so that they read

    Code: Select all

    interior=Airbus_A321_interior
    instead of

    Code: Select all

    interior=TomA332_interior
  • Delete the folder called panel in the Tom_A330 folder.
  • Copy the folders named panel and texture from the Airbus_A321 folder into the Tom_A330 folder.
  • Now, in each texture.* folder, edit the file texture.cfg so that it reads

    Code: Select all

    fallback.1=..\texture
    insted of

    Code: Select all

    fallback.1=..\texture.AT
  • In each texture folder, delete the files named Airbus_A321_1_C.dds, Airbus_A321_2_C.dds, Airbus_A321_3_C.dds, Airbus_A321_4_C.dds.
  • Now, in the aircraft.cfg file (in Tom_A330 folder), search for the

    Code: Select all

    eyepoint=
    line, and delete the numbers after the =. Instead of them, paste those numbers:

    Code: Select all

    49.22074, -1.73061, 4.355627
  • Last passage: search for the

    Code: Select all

    [CameraSection.001] and [CameraSection.002]
    sections, delete them, and paste

    Code: Select all

    [CameraDefinition.001]

    right under the last camera section.
This should be everything. I hope I don't miss any passage.

The Thomas Ruth A330 VC, it's amazing, as all his work.
Still, I just hope that someone, one day, take that VC and adapt to the A32X family.
I still use default, and for night texture, there are already alternatives.

It's all a matter of personal tastes. In example, I actually like the work Thomas Ruth has done with the A300/A310 serie VC and exterior model (I used to fly only with my Sata A310, a couple of months ago), but, regarding the A330, I think his VC is kinda poor, and I think that the default A321 VC with the textures Brett-Hill made looks even better.

Thanks for the replies.
Just wanted to use the default A 321 VC with any of PA 's Airbus family but hate that
really bright night lighting.
This is why I thought of Thomas Ruth's A330 panel. (looks better at night)
It doesn't have to be that particular VC though.
Thanks Goozer . I was able to merge Mr. Ruth's A340-500 VC with PA's A380 (might try something similar)

Cheers, Ricko
