How to start (somewhat ashamed)
Good afternoon,
Yes, I am somewhat ashamed because I have been using flight simulator for many years and usually I have no problems to sort out any inconvenience by myself, but I must confess that I could not succeed on using the A380 this time.
I am using FS2004 and I have installed the base package, the Lufthansa and the Emirates liveries using the installer. I only edited the aircraft.cfg to change the manufacturer from "Project Airbus" to "Airbus" and have all the aircraft listed under the same manufacturer. I have edited the sound.cfg and panel.cfg to point my PSS A340 aircraft. Those changes are very simple and usual to a flightsimmer. Unfortunately, my A380 is not displayed under the Airbus and nowherere. This is because there is something missing but sincerely I cannot say what. Could anyone help this ashamed senior flightsimmer?
Thanks in advance,
Lluís

Re: How to start (somewhat ashamed)
something is missing in your aircraft.cfg i strongly doubt it. can you post your aircraft.cfg (just the fltsim.0 ..... fltsim1 only)?

Re: How to start (somewhat ashamed)
Take a look into your aircraft folder if your .air file is named "air_a380.air". If it is not there is another possibility: if you use Windows 7 you have to go to Username/AppData/Local/VirtualStore/ and take a look into the folder existing in this folder. If there is a folder named FSX/FS9 your have to delete it. After that your aircraft should be shown in your FS menu.

try removing the first line : "//THE FOLLOWING SECTION WAS AUTOMATICALLY ADDED"
Re: How to start (somewhat ashamed)
Good evening,
M@rco, certainly I have a file named "air_a380.air". I have followed the instructions to install the package and it is there correctly. I use Windows 7 and in my "Username/AppData/Local/VirtualStore/" there is nothing in.
Markm24, I have removed the line "//THE FOLLOWING SECTION WAS AUTOMATICALLY ADDED" and the aircraft is still invisible.
Thank you both for your effort.
My A380 aircraft is in the path D:\FS9\Aircraft\Project Airbus A380-861. I have a SSD only for FS2004. As said, I have installed thousands of aircraft manually since FS98 but sincerely I have no idea why this does not work now. Really dissapointing.
Thanks for any help to make it run,
Lluís

Re: How to start (somewhat ashamed)
Well try contacting the admin here for an extensive help. I don't get it why it is not working, especially this aircraft addon is made for FS2004 originally.
try contacting "esg"

Re: How to start (somewhat ashamed)
Hi,
"esg" solved the problem. The folder "Project Airbus A380-800" must also be installed in the "aircraft" folder to run. As I said to him in private, I suggested to amend the readme file to clearly state that this folder must be installed for proper function as I only installed the folders of those liveries I pretended to install.
Thanks to all of you for your time and advise.

Re: How to start (somewhat ashamed)
We'll amend the readme should we ever update the A380.
